'Pose-A-Thon': Billy Porter and MJ Rodriguez's 'Home' duet with Our Lady J has tearful fans asking for an album

It all started when Rodriguez began belting out 'Home', one of her most emotional performances from the FX show, and soon Billy Porter joined in

Back in 2019 on its July 9 episode, 'Pose' characters Blanca (Mj Rodriguez) and Pray Tell (Billy Porter) gave what was pretty much the most impassioned performance of 'Home' from The Wiz that television or easily any media platform ever saw. Producer Ryan Murphy went on to call that episode and the performance one of the show's most emotional moments yet. But almost a year later, when the two stars — Rodriguez and Porter — took the screen on FX's transgender pride special 'Pose-A-Thon' this June 26, fans were left emotional. Crying their eyes out, fans said that this duet "deserves every award ever". Not just that, fans are also curious "when the album's coming".

Hosted by Porter and Rodriguez and featuring a slew of members from their all LGBTQ+-cast of 'Pose', the FX-special is a celebratory and awareness spreading event for Pride Month, where stars take the screen to share information, facts about the historic Stonewall Movement, and also names of charities that work towards the benefit of all LGBTQ+ and specifically transgender people. The special comes shortly after Season 2 of the Emmy-winning series arrived on Netflix. 

The series that sees the rise of New York City's African-American and Latino LGBTQ+ and gender-nonconforming ballroom culture scene in the 1980s and, in the second season, early 1990s. And given everything that's going on in the world currently, it makes sense why Rodriguez and Porter's performance with Our Lady J won hearts and earned tears of both joy and empathy. "MJ Rodriguez and Billy Porter singing 'Home' from The Wiz deserves every award ever. That's it. That's the tweet," shared a fan on Twitter. Another noted: "Just let me get my tissues please."

A third fan screamed in all caps: "MJ RODRIGUEZ ABOUT TO SING HOME!!! I’m about to cry again, I’m done!" Common remarks read: "MJ and Billy can sing their a$$e$ off! Amazing voices & talent all around," and "Lord have mercy. @MjRodriguez7 + @ourladyj x @theebillyporter = CHURCH!!!" Summing it up for the whole fandom, a user shared: "The 1st time I heard them sing this number on this show I was in tears. Nothing has changed, still happens." Several others were more interested in a prospective album from both the Rangers. "I would literally buy an album that’s nothing but duets from @MjRodriguez7 and @theebillyporter," wrote a user. Another straight-up asked Rodriguez, "When we getting the album, sis? Over here sangin'."
