'Captain Marvel' will make history on March 8 next year when, on its premiere, it will become the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first-ever female-led solo film. That is not be the only reason the film will be groundbreaking. It has now been confirmed that Pinar Toprak will be joining the film as its music composer, in the process, becoming the first woman to score a feature for the studio.

Toprak took to her Instagram to share the news, writing: "I’m so thrilled to finally announce that I will be scoring the upcoming CAPTAIN MARVEL! It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe. So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude."

"I have so many people to thank for helping me on this journey but, first and foremost, my incredible agents Laura Engel and Richard Kraft for believing in me from day one and Dave Jordan and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime," she continued.

Toprak has earned numerous plaudits for her earlier works. Her scores have won two International Film Music Critics Association Awards — one in 2010 for 'The Lightkeepers' and a second in 2011 for the documentary 'The Wind Gods,' the former made her the first-ever woman to win the coveted award.

She has also written music for Superman prequel series 'Krypton,' created by David Goyer (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight) and scored the Netflix original 'The Angel,' as well as action feature film 'Behind Enemy Lines 2: Axis of Evil' and crime drama 'Breaking Point.' Her more recent works include the late Michael Clarke Duncan’s last film 'The Challenger' and Sony film 'The River Murders.'

Furthermore, she has also composed the music for current viral sensation first-person team shooter 'Fortnite' and for the Xbox 360 video game 'Ninety Nine Nights.' Her work in legendary film composer Hans Zimmer's Remote Control for projects such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' 'The Last Samurai,' and 'King Arthur' have burgeoned her reputation as well.

'Captain Marvel' is being written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and will star Brie Larson in the titular role of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

The film will mark the 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and also star the likes of Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Jude Law, and several more.

Speaking about the movie, producer Nate Moore said: "I think the way the film opens is much different than an origin movie, and because she is a heroine that you haven't seen before, we're able to tell this story structurally in a way that will feel unexpected and hopefully will keep audiences off balance and still balanced enough that they can enjoy the film."

"Even making it a period film is sort of interesting in that it's not just a function of the world as we know it in the MCU today," she added.
