‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ Ending Explained: Does Captain Hook die in Disney+ movie?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ directed by David Lowrey has made its way to Disney+ and it’s a hoot and a half! There’s so much to love and admire about Lowrey’s latest adventure, from the inclusivity to Wendy’s strong persona, and of course, Jude Law’s portrayal of Captain Hook. With a run time of 100 minutes, you will find yourself glued to the screen while watching ‘Peter Pan and Wendy.’
While a few things have been tweaked and improved in Lowrey’s reimagination of the Disney classic, the crux of it remains the same. There’s that age-old rivalry between Captain Hook and Peter Pan, but what lies in store for these characters towards the end of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’?

What happens to the lost boys (and girls)?
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about the lost girls, who weren’t given as much importance as fans were worried about after the trailer of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy,’ but of course, they are briefly mentioned and given a share of screen time. Towards the end of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy,’ these lost boys and girls follow in the footsteps of Wendy Darling instead of Peter Pan because they realize that they want to go back home, and essentially, grow up. So, all of them make their way to Wendy’s house in London, startling her mother and father, who stare in disbelief.
Does Peter Pan stay back with Wendy?
Now this is truly the million-dollar question, but the answer is quite simple: Peter Pan isn’t ready to grow up. Frankly, while watching the movie, you might wonder if this is it for Peter and if he is ready to return to the real world, but that isn’t the case, not this time, and not yet at least. Maybe if Lowrey decides to make a sequel of ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ with an aged Wendy Darling trying to convince a young Peter Pan to finally grow up, that might be something. Although it’s highly unlikely, one can dream.
Tinkerbell decides to head back to Neverland with Peter Pan, even though we were tearing up at the goodbye between her and Wendy. Let’s face it, Tinkerbell wouldn’t be able to do much in London, so it made sense for her to go back to where she truly belonged. Plus, Peter could use a friend, and maybe after everything they’ve been through, he will finally understand Tinkerbell.
Does Captain Hook die in ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’?
We were saving the best for the last, of course. Peter Pan, the lost boys and girls, Wendy, and her brothers, all battle it out with the pirates and Captain Hook in one final showdown. Captain Hook and Peter receive closure of sorts, having a heart-to-heart before Peter lets go and Captain Hook experiences a fatal splash…or does he?
After Peter Pan returns back to Neverland, he finds out that Captain Hook is still alive, and the two characters exchange a smile, beneath which simply lies subtle tones of ‘the show must go on.’ Now, whether the two work on their lost friendship, or continue their rivalry, that’s something left to the viewer’s imagination, but at least everyone can find comfort in knowing that some things in Neverland will never change.
You can stream ‘Peter Pan and Wendy’ on Disney+ from April 28, 2023.
