Netflix has recently released a movie based on Jane Austen's novel from the 19th century called 'Persuasion'. The movie tells the story of a second chance, the reawakening of love between Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) and Captain Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis), whom eight years earlier she had been persuaded not to marry.

It's easy to say that the movie is not quite fitting to what the original book of Jane Austen's story might have in a few aspects but it is undoubtedly a stellar and humorous adaptation of the novel with a modern twist.

The new film has gained a huge fanbase alongside many negative inputs. The positives of the movie are clearly the beautiful performances of the actors in magnificent locations and remarkable sets. The film was set to be taken in an ear in the early 1800s and the movie did justice to it. But for those looking for more details about the movie, you should know that it is not as serious as the original story of the novel is. The movie has been directed with a sense of humor and a good modern essence.

Some fans were happy about how they were able to visualize the role of Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) from the novel in a modern way, and took to their social media handles to express their views stating, "Just finished watching #Persuasion, and I enjoyed it! If you’re a Jane Austen purist, give it a miss, but if you approach it with an open mind and a sense of humour, it’s quite fun!"

Meanwhile, another unhappy fan stated, "I didn't think it was possible to take a novel as fine as Jane Austen's #Persuasion & butcher it to this extent. The sets are beautiful, the actors interesting but my goodness, what a travesty. The script is appalling. I can tolerate modernisation but did it have to be so stupid?"

But the lash-out on "ruining" the movie did not stop most of Johnson's fans to give the movie a watch and more importantly admiring her for the brilliant portrayal of Anne Elliot. Others were frustrated that the movie was taken the wrong way by people and that it should be approached with an open mind. One fan said, "Mostly purists upset about the creative liberties taken. But I predict it’ll do solid numbers on Netflix, and in time, when sticks have been unlodged from bums, it’ll be appreciated." To this, another confessed being guilty of forgetting how good of an actress Johnson is by tweeting, "I am totally guilty of constantly forgetting how amazing she is. I think she suffers from Kristen Stewart syndrome. Where her shittiest film is the most remembered among the masses. I really enjoyed the movie and thought she did a great job."
