People's Choice Awards? 'People' stunned as Kim Kardashian wins Fashion Icon award

Kim Kardashian collected the Fashion Icon award at the People's Choice Awards and fans ask who chose her to be the fashion icon

The awards season has finally begun and celebrities have started gathering to celebrate each other’s works in star-studded ceremonies. One of the first award ceremonies has always been the People’s Choice Awards and this year, it’s no different. The PCAs are being handed out in Santa Monica and some of the biggest superstars from the entertainment industry are in attendance.

The ceremony just handed out the Fashion Icon award and it went to none other than Kim Kardashian. The reality TV star looked ravishing in an all-black look from Balenciaga. She wore a tightly fitted dress that featured a mock turtleneck and gloved sleeves. However, she did not stop there and made her outfit even more unique by donning distinctive sunglasses and large earrings.

During her acceptance speech, the SKIMS founder thanked Kanye West for introducing her to the fashion world. She said, “To Kanye, for really introducing me to the fashion world. I fell in love with fashion and I'm so inspired by so many people.” As soon as she won the award, social media went berserk with a lot of reactions. Social media was divided over the win, with some saying that she deserved it, however, there were many who were shocked and said “who chose her.”

After Kim’s win, one of the users said, “Who chose her I sure didn't.” Another user noted, “I don’t know a single person who dresses like Kim unless it’s Halloween.” Meanwhile, one of the users simply said, “She is not a fashion icon.”

One of the users questioned her award and opined that her stylist should be given the award because she won’t be able to dress up like that if her stylist wasn’t there. She said, “Okay but shouldn’t the fashion/style icon awards go to the stylist, not the person they dressed? Like I doubt half the celebrities that have won awards for this stuff are the reasons for their iconic outfits.”

“I like Kim K. She not a fan fashion icon though. She knows how to dress but no,” said another user after the award. “Wearing an all-black bodysuit and multiple color dresses is not “fashion icon “in any kind of way SMH,” one of the fans stated. “Kim Kardashian as fashion icon Uhm PCA sounds like a joke,” said another.

On the other hand, one of the users suggested that Madonna should have been given the Fashion Icon award. He wrote, “I can’t believe Kim Kardashian won the Fashion Icon award! Madonna is a fashion icon! Look at her Instagram. The Kardashians need to go away!”

Apart from Kim winning the Fashion Icon accolade, her show ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ won the Reality show of the Year award at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. “This is a bittersweet moment for us because you guys have voted for us on our last season of ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’. It's been an incredible 14-year ride, and all of the memories we have can never be replaced.”

The 2021 People's Choice Awards air on Tuesday, December 7 at 9 p.m. on E! and NBC right after E!'s PCAs red carpet show at 7 p.m.
