'Peaky Blinders': Revisiting the top 5 firsts on the show before it returns for season 5

The fifth season of 'Peaky Binders' is set to premiere soon and before we return to the world of Thomas Shelby and his 'Peaky Blinders' family, here's a look at some of the most memorable firsts on the show. From Cillian Murphy appearing as Thomas Shelby for the first time, his meeting Grace for the first time or when the brothers gouged out their enemy's eyes together - there's a lot that we can talk about.

1. Thomas Shelby's first scene

The first time we saw Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby in 'Peaky Blinders' was when he rode on horseback and we got a look at him from behind. People all around were running away from the streets leaving a deserted path for Tommy to pass through. Hidden behind doors and windows, kids took a peek at him. A girl who read fortunes was then brought to him and she cast a spell on his horse. A man who is seeing all of from his hiding spot, tells the kids around him "They're doing a magic spell to make it (horse) win a race." Tommy knows people are watching and so he says, "The horse's name is Monaghan Boy. Kempton. 3 o' clock. Monday. You ladies have a bet yourselves but don't tell anyone else."

2. When Thomas met Grace and Alfie for the first time

Some of the memorable firsts will have to include the first time Thomas met some of the characters that later play an important role in the show. Grace Burgess (Shelby after marriage) starts off on Chester Campbell's side. She is told to get close to Tommy in the first season by Campbell who wants to find the guns that he had hidden. She has taken up employment as a barmaid at The Garrison Pub while working secretly for the Birmingham Police. In her interactions with Tommy, she falls in love with and so does he. However, Thomas learns of her betrayal and the two separate briefly. The two, however, reunite and get married in season 3. Grace is also shot dead in the third season.

Tommy meets Alfie Simmons (Tom Hardy), who has turned out to be one of the Peaky favorites in the second episode of the second season. He meets Alfie for the first time to convince him to side with Peaky Blinders opposite Sabini and their long and complicated relationship ended in season 4 when Tommy is convinced by Alfie to shoot him.

3. The introduction of Jessie Eden

Charlie Murphy appears as Jessie Eden in season 4. Her first scene in the show is when she appears in the men's toilet because there are no women's toilets higher up in the factory. She first meets Tommy to speak with him about equal pay for men and women.

4. Polly's son Michael becomes a true Peaky Blinder

Polly's son Michael, who reunites with his mother at the age of 18 and in the second season, when a guy picks a fight with Michael, only to later realize that he is one of the Peaky Blinders marks the inclusion of Michael into Tommy's fold. John and Arthur later drop by the bar, steal the money from the till and burn the bar down.

5. The three brothers gouge the enemy's eyes

The first time the brothers introduced us to blades sewn in their hats, which is the trademark of the original Peaky Blinders members was in the second season of 'Peaky Blinders'. This happens when the Shelbys meet the Lee family. All seems to go well in the beginning, but a few members of the Lee family make snide remarks about Arthur and this turns into an all-out brawl resulting in the Shelbys brandishing their razor sewn hats at their enemies' faces.
