'90 Day Fiance': Paul Staehle says Karine Martins and he quit the show, is everything OK between the couple?
In a series of Instagram stories, ‘90 Day Fiance’ star Paul Staehle has revealed he and wife Karine Martins have quit the franchise on TLC, at least for now. "We were not fired or reprimanded," Paul, 37, wrote in his Instagram Stories on Saturday, responding to rumors the couple had been kicked off the show.
"We were given time to deal with our family matters privately. Our payments and income was not affected. TLC and Sharp [Entertainment] have both been very considerate to our situation." Paul continued, "We highly appreciate them giving us time to deal with our private matters off camera. We are hopeful and eager to possibly return in the future in a more positive time in our growing [family's] lives. Our contract was fulfilled and completed. We will be posting some positive highlights on our social media and YouTube."
About Karine’s disappearance from social media, Paul said, "Karine is refraining from social media because of the extreme negativity. Financially we are fine as I am still successfully independently paying everything. We will start scheduling press interviews soon," Paul wrote. "However, Internet in Tonantins is not strong enough for video conference. They can only be done in Manaus."
Paul shared this post one day after providing fans with an Instagram update on Friday as to what's been going on in the couple's life together recently. Paul first touched upon the couple's decision to stop filming '90 Day Fiance' in the Friday post. "Because of the overwhelming negative impact of fans taking it upon themselves to pick Karine up and then make very serious false allegations in her name... we will probably no longer be filming," Paul explained.
Previously there has been a lot of speculation about the weird nature of the couple’s relationship. Paul Staehle and Karine Martins' marriage had been on the rocks ever since the pair appeared on the show. Earlier this year on July 30 an explosive fight transpired between them which ended with the cops visiting their house. Weirdly enough Paul relayed the entire fight on Instagram live which he later also shared on his page, deleting it shortly after. The video also saw him yelling at Karine, warning her to not take their year-old son out of the country and back to her native Brazil. “If I have to, I’ll release him to a judge,” Paul told Karine.
Wife Karine had also filed a police report against him around the same time as the fight, alleging that she has been a victim of marital rape. The handwritten complaint against him by Karine was later shared by Paul on his Instagram feed. The complaint said, “On multiple occasions in the past 3 weeks the respondent pushed me grab my breast squizing and twisting hurting me pushing me to the floor covering my mouth he force his penis in my mouth and constantly rapes me. If I refuse he throw things he yells or he threats to call police he currently hold my Green card all my documents. I am not allowed to leave the house he monitor my phone he have cameras around the house and he can see through his phone who arrives who leaves. He threats take out son Pierre away if I ever leave he forced me to drink alcohol by threat me," read a section from Karine's complaint. She also alleged that they got married in Brazil and their plan was to live there and not the USA.
The massive fight was followed by Paul alleging his wife putting glass in his food. In the court documents obtained by US Weekly, Paul alleges, “I previously found glass in my food,” the court documents read. “I found similar glass shards from an item she broke.” Days after this happened, Paul alleges that her “friends have been calling me, threatening to come to my home and kill me. They requested I pay them $10,000 or I would never see my son again.” The court documents further noted Paul stated that "I fear for my wife’s safety and mental well-being. I fear for my son’s safety.” Due to this, a judge ordered Karine not to communicate with Paul and be 500 feet away from him.
Karine publicly confirmed in early August 2020 that she had left Paul and obtained an emergency protective order against him. Karine said she never went "missing" but needed to be "rescued from an environment" that was no longer healthy for her and her child. She added on Instagram, "Relationships are hard and sometimes it just can't be fixed anymore."
In the lengthy message to fans posted late last week, Paul also confirmed he and Karine are currently living in Brazil and Karine is pregnant with another baby boy due in February 2021.
