Contains spoilers for 'Palm Royale'
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Maxine Simmons' (Kristen Wiig) life, in Apple TV+'s 'Palm Royale', has been revolving around her struggles to fit into Palm Beach's high society, even if it comes at the expense of her relationships with her husband and putting their financials in danger.
Maxine, in order to become a highlight of Palm Beach, has to step into Norma Dellacorte's (Carol Burnett) shoes to host Beach Ball, the biggest gala of the year.
However, it's not just another gathering of the elites. Instead, it's a way of keeping the socialites afloat and relevant, especially the Dellacortes.
What does Robert Diaz tell Maxine Simmons about the Beach Ball in 'Palm Royale'?
In 'Palm Royale' Episode 6, Maxine Simmons learns startling secrets of the Beach Ball, courtesy of Robert Diaz (Ricky Martin).
When Maxine throws away the idea of hosting the event, keeping in mind their financial constraints and lack of her ability to bring a special guest that could attract the crowd, Robert shares with her the secret that would let her successfully host the 50th annual Beach Ball.
As Maxine tells Robert that she is broke, Robert says that one doesn't need money to host Beach Ball. Instead, the event itself is a way to make money.
Robert further discloses how the women of Palm Beach are affording a rich lifestyle.
He quotes an example of Dinah Donohue, who raises huge sums of money for cancer patients and uses it for herself instead of donating to the cause.
Will Maxine Simmons host the 50th annual Beach Ball in 'Palm Royale'?
Despite learning the shocking truth about the elites of Palm Beach, Maxine is unsure of how she would be able to get people to attend the event, provided that the Rolodex that contained their secrets is destroyed.
Robert comes to her rescue yet again as he shares with her Norma's invitations for the people.
In each of the personalized invitation cards, Norma threatens people with their secrets to force them to attend the Beach Ball and put money in her trust.
Maxine soon realizes that she no longer needs the Rolodex, nor does she have to beg anyone to become her special guest.
Even though her conscience initially doesn't allow her to threaten people, she is finally driven by her long desire and walks into Norma's footsteps.
Maxine, who has only been facing challenges to host the gala finally has found her way to do so. As she posts the invitations to the Palm Beach elites, she finally develops a sense of self-identity.
However, whether Maxine will be able to host the event is still a question as the bedridden Norma has finally made a substantial recovery. In the climax scene, she is seen getting onto her foot and she grabs a revolver.
With Norma finally out of misery, it would be interesting to see if she ousts Maxine and Douglas from her residence or if Maxine will be able to hold onto her place in the mansion.
