Call her devious or cunning, but Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) has her way around everything and she could get things done which even her quick-witted husband‘s attempts fail at. The first two seasons of ‘Ozark’ presented to us a highly determined and strong-headed woman, whose brutality knows no end when something threatens her family.

Her expertise in politics and desperation to save her family propelled her to achieve her goal of establishing a boat casino, which is now up and running. However, towards the end of  Season 2 of ‘Ozark’, when Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), upon getting the casino to function prepares to leave to Ozarks for good, Wendy puts her foot down saying the cartel would never hurt them.

Season 3 of ‘Ozark’ has already sparked a conversation among the viewers with its compelling trailer which teases trouble in the Byrdes’ marriage as the new business leaves them with their fate up in the air.  The trailer for the new season of ‘Ozark’ shows Marty continue to move money in the new casino without Wendy’s knowledge. A few seconds later, the duo is seen at a marriage counseling session, where Wendy blames Marty for going behind her back.

Meanwhile, Wendy also seems to have navigated the world of gambling pretty well with the help of Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer) and asserts that she would never do anything to hurt her shareholders. It almost seems like, after her fight against the many forces that tried thwarting her plans of starting the boat casino, there’s no looking back for Wendy.

The synopsis for the upcoming season reads, “It’s six months later, the casino is up and running, but Marty and Wendy are fighting for control of the family’s destiny.”

Wendy and Marty’s relationship has always been hanging by a thread. The previous season still saw some hope when they were brought close to each other by a mutual fight for survival. They shared a common goal of protecting their family.

However, with Wendy changing her mind at the last moment and Marty once again laundering the casino money, their relationship will be met with several obstacles. We need to wait and watch if family values and love alone could save the Byrdes from falling apart or if their individual desires will drive them apart.

‘Ozark’ Season 3 premieres on March 27 on Netflix.
