LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It's truly the year of women winners who are triumphing in the world of great cinema. Sarah Polley took home the Best Adapted Screenplay for 'Women Talking' at Oscars 2023, making her one of the category’s few female winners and giving the category's running female champs for the first time. With Polley winning the best-adapted screenplay, the award has now consecutively been awarded to women winners as Ruth Prawer Jhabvala won it twice. It is quite mind-blowing how this year's Oscars is setting a bar for upcoming moviemakers and artists.

'Women Talking' takes you through the world of an isolated religious colony that discloses a shocking secret about the colony's men. The sickening truth changed the perspective of the women when they start to talk about their new situation.

'Women Talking' didn't exactly have any winning prospects as it received only two Oscar nominations. The script did not win at the BAFTAs as they awarded Best Flim to 'All Quiet on the Western Front'. But in a weird twist of faith, the two scripts didn't have a face-off against each other prior to the Oscars.

This is Polley’s first Oscar win and a second nomination. She was previously nominated in this category for her movie 'Away from Her'. She is the third woman to receive multiple nominations in the male-dominated category "Adapted Screenplay".

Internet is rejoicing as Polley won Best Adapted Screenplay at Oscars 2023. While some wanted their favorite films to win, some just appreciated how unique the storytelling of 'Women Talking' was as one social media user wrote, "So well deserved important, alarming & so so so unique." Another user added, "Didn't expected this, but deserved." One user wanted 'Top Gun' to win and wrote, "TOP GUN ROBBED", while another user added, "Finally, one award that I can agree with."

One user stated that they loved the movie, but it wasn't a game-changer as they wrote, "I loved this film, but let’s not pretend the screenplay was more than just a Twitter thread turned into dialogue." Another user added, "Deserved so many more nominations glad at least Sarah got recognized!"
