LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: International films have taken cinema by storm, motivating many to create masterpieces that make a difference. The Academy Awards are about celebrating cinema and honoring the best of the best. The 2023 Oscars were eagerly anticipated, and for all the right reasons. The German war epic 'All Quiet on the Western Front' won Best International Feature Film at the Oscars in Los Angeles.

The German-language film, which retells the story of World War I, is a film adaptation of Erich Remarque's seminal 1928 novel; an earlier Hollywood adaptation directed by Lewis Milestonen had won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1930. In this version, directed by Edward Berger, Felix Kammerer plays Paul Baeumer, an initially eager soldier traumatized by life in the trenches and sudden realization. The award was presented by Salma Hayek, who looked beautiful in her fiery red sequined dress.
