Sofia Coppola has reunited with her favorite collaborator, Bill Murray, to offer everything that might look like 'Lost in Translation', but deep down is a heartwarming father-daughter daughter comedy. Titled 'On the Rocks', the Apple TV+ film is going to be one of those fall-treats that are warm, fuzzy, glaringly realistic, and all things comforting. Here's all you need to know about the movie.

Release date:

Arriving right in time to give you all the warmth you need as winter takes over 'On the Rocks' premiers this month on Friday, October 23, only on Apple TV+.

Plot:

According to IMDb, 'On the Rocks' follows "The story of a young mother who reconnects with her larger-than-life playboy father on an adventure through New York. In this comedy about aging, marriage, and the tenuous bond between parents and grown children, New York author and married mother-of-two Laura has become suspicious that her career-driven husband may be having an affair with a coworker, speculation encouraged by her caddish, bon vivant father."

Rashida Jones (L) and Malon Wayans (Apple TV+)

Cast:

Rashida Jones plays the role of the young mother, Laura, who starts suspecting her husband Dean, played by Marlon Wayans. Murray plays the role of Felix, the former-casanova father of Jones' character. Jenny Slate plays the role of Vanessa, Jessica Henwick hops aboard as Fiona, and Barbara Bain plays the role of 'Gran'.

Creator:

Writer-director Sofia Coppola who is known for her gigantic Bill Murray collaboration 'Lost in Translation', is also producing 'On the Rocks'. Coppola's other prominent works include 2010's 'Somewhere', and the 2006 period drama 'Marie Antoinette'. Coppola, who was previously married to Spike Jonze, is now married to Thomas Mars. The couple tied the knot in 2011 and have two children together.

Trailer:

Laurie's whole journey of transcending from being the insecure wife to the suspicious daughter propelled by her father's unfaithful past is painted vividly in the trailer. Laurie doesn't necessarily doubt Dean at first, but Felix puts ideas in her head and takes her on a wilf ride tailing her husband - a ride that proves to be thrilling in ways more than one.
