Is Timmy alive?
Timmy is the brother of Liv and he cares for her sister. Timmy gets a bit worried when his sister and Matt move into the remote area, away from him. He helps the couple to settle into the new house and he even gives his beloved childhood stuffed toy Belly to Liv's son Julius. Timmy gets a little concerned when Matt gets consumed with his social media presence but he does not have a talk with Matt directly. Timmy follows Matt's social media closely. When Matt wanted to inspect the dark, abandoned factory Timmy goes along with Matt. In fact, he is the first one to warn Liv regarding Matt's outbursts and extends a helping hand, though Matt rejects it. Timmy even follows Matt to the abandoned factory again in order to keep him safe and unexpectedly he gets hit by a scared Matt, who knocks Timmy down and leaves the premise. Luckily, he was found when a group of kids trespasses the factory. When we last see him, Timmy had sustained an injury to his head and possibly his neck. It is safe to assume that the kids would have contacted the authorities and saved him as he exhibited little movements.
What happened to Matt?
Matt is the troubled social media influencer who has a strained relationship with his demented dad Pol. When his dad tells Matt about the tragic accident that happened in his factory, Matt becomes obsessed with it. He goes on into finding more and more news regarding the factory that he starts to slip up and neglect his family, including his child.
This worries Liv, who sets out to find out what happened in his past. From Pol, Liv learns that Matt's mom had some mental health issues including insomnia, paranoia and postpartum psychosis which was hereditary. Matt's mom Michelle tries to drown in the pond at their house along with Matt when he was a baby and Pol could only save Matt at the time. Pol was unable to find Michelle underwater, leading to her death. After learning this shocking news, Liv rushes to the house, where she finds Matt, digging a hole under his house in order to solve the mystery of the factory. This leads to the water come into the house and when Liv jumps to save Matt, she gets stuck. Pol, who gets a chance at redemption, saves both Liv and Matt. Throughout the film, Matt refuses to get help from anyone, and it seems that Matt finally accepts and starts seeing a doctor. This can be confirmed by the medications and pills we see at the bedside of Matt and Liv. In the final shot, we also get a look at Matt, who is in a much more pleasant mood, enjoying his time with his girlfriend and his son, taking a step to getting better.
The movie handles a plot that is absolutely worthy of a perfect psychological thriller. However, 'Noise' falls short in terms of execution. What would have been a top-class, mystery and psychosocial thriller is presented as a mediocre thriller drama that lacks the punch it so desperately needed.
'Noise' is available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
