Nicole Kidman nails the intense cop routine in newly released 'Destroyer' trailer
Directed by Karyn Kusama, the movie had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last month, where Kidman's role garnered laurels from critics from almost everywhere.
Nicole Kidman starrer 'Destroyer' has released its trailer and Kidman looks powerful as hell. Directed by Karyn Kusama, the movie had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival last month, where Kidman's role garnered laurels from critics from almost everywhere. This is Kusama's first film since the home invasion thriller 'The Invitation.'
Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, and Bradley Whitford are the supporting cast.
Kidman stars as an LAPD detective Erin Bell, who revisits her dark past after a gang leader from a previous case that ended in a catastrophe re-emerges years later. The script, written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, unfolds over two timelines as the audience follow the younger, more idealistic Bell on the original case and her older, toughed-up self as she falls back down due to complexities.
In an interview at BFI London Film Festival, Kidman talked about her character in the film and said, "The way I look and behave in the film is the result of a lot of trauma. That’s the beauty of cinema, you use the image, you don’t always have to have the words,” she added.
Critics have praised Kidman's performance in “Destroyer” and described her appearance as “almost unrecognizable”.
Director Kusama described Bell as a “really complicated human” dealing with regret, guilt, and shame reported Reuters. “We talked a lot about sun damage and lack of sleep and drinking too much and not eating well and we landed at a very extreme version of all of that lack of self-care,” Kusama said.
Going by the exciting trailer, it would be great to see Kidman's performance and direction by Kusama. "Destroyer” is set to release in select theaters on December 25 following its release everywhere else in January 2019.
