'That wasn’t my experience'
Cage, during his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, clarified the statement made by director McKay that Cage did method acting while filming 'Renfield'. Cage said he does not have the recollection of being a Dracula all the time and added that he had a lot of fun between shots. Cage believes that Chris made the statement because of the fangs that he had to wear and which made him speak in a certain way - leading to Chris' statement. However, it is pretty clear that Cage sure had fun being a vampire.
"I just don’t have that recollection, I don’t know why Chris said that. I had a lot of laughs in between takes with both Chris McKay and Nick Hoult, so maybe that was his experience, maybe because I still had the fangs in my mouth that made me speak a certain way, but that wasn’t my experience."

Not the first time
It is to be noted that this is not the first time that Cage is playing a Vampire in a comedy movie. Cage starred as a Vampire in 1988's cult classic black comedy film 'Vampire's Kiss'. And with the upcoming 'Renfield', he is donning the vampire cape once again.
The official logline of 'Renfield' reads, "Evil doesn’t span eternity without a little help. In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Emmy nominee Nicholas Hoult ('Mad Max: Fury Road', 'X-Men' franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency."
'Renfield' is set to release exclusively in theaters from April 14, 2023.
