'New Amsterdam' Season 2 Episode 7: Emergencies at the hospital keep Max busy, but how long can he keep up the charade?

Max is suffering in more ways than one, but because he refuses to let himself feel vulnerable for fear of not being a good enough father and letting New Amsterdam down, no one is able to see it.

'New Amsterdam' Season 2, through its previously aired sixth episode titled 'Righteous Right Hand', showed just how deeply sad and heartbroken Max (Ryan Eggold) has been since his wife's death. We knew that he still talks to her as if she were around, and immerses himself in her memories, but the fact that he has not even cleaned up her bed from his carpets is raising quite a few red flags among fans.

Thankfully, because he forbade the cleaners Helen (Freema Agyeman) sent from entering his house, she may get wind of just how much he is suffering and offer help in a more aggressive way. She has been asking him to let her help him for a while now but to no avail. Now, even though he agreed to let her help him, he refused to actually go through with it.

Max is suffering in more ways than one, but because he refuses to let himself feel vulnerable for fear of not being a good enough father and letting New Amsterdam down, no one is able to see it. He wants to do right by his two roles -being a father and being a medical director. However, he is sure to come crashing down if he doesn't address his issues.

Since the Season 2 premiere, especially, the hospital has had may emergencies, in the wake of which people always turn to Max for help. Be it about insurance companies not coming through for the patients, or a woman taking it upon herself to get all her friends treated even if it meant breaking the law, Max was there to fix the issue. And now, in the upcoming Season 2 Episode 7 titled 'Good Soldiers', we will see him facing yet another major blow up.

Helen finds out that a faulty procedure done by a doctor in New Amsterdam put one of their patients in a wheelchair, and this happened too long ago to be fixed by a sorry. Max and Helen will have to come up with a plan to help the patient without letting New Amsterdam suffer for the mistake of one doctor who probably doesn't even work there anymore. We know that they will come up with a viable solution but how long with Max continue to weather the challenges of his personal and professional life without taking care of himself before finally crashing?

Hopefully, Season 2 Episode of 'New Amsterdam', which will air on NBC come Tuesday, November 5, will answer the question.
