Fans hail Netflix's 'Under Paris' as 'the best shark movie'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix's French horror movie 'Under Paris' aka 'Sous la Seine' made a splash on Wednesday, June 5 and the fans are aboslutely hooked on this underwater adventure.

'Under Paris' is a gripping French thriller set against the backdrop of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. The plot follows the terror caused by a monstrous shark prowling the city, creating chaos amidst the excitement of the sporting event.

Bérénice Bejo stars as Sophia, a brilliant scientist, who joins forces with environmental activist Mika, portrayed by Léa Léviant. Together, they confront the looming threat in the heart of Paris.

Fans are drawing comparisons to the French version of 'Jaws', captivated by the intense storyline and thrilling performances.

Fans hail 'Under Paris' as 'the best shark movie' in recent times 

Many fans swam to X to share their thoughts on Netflix's latest shark film, with one saying, "UnderParis was a blast. A much needed breath of fresh air compared to what we've been getting for shark horror in recent years. It was a big, bloody, violent good time," while another said, "Under Paris, best Shark movie so far."

"Under Paris was a solid shark movie. Def recommend if you're a fan of those types of films," shared a user. Recommending the movie to others, one viewer wrote, "Under Paris is such a nice movie y’all should see."

Glorifying the deaths in the film, one fan commented, "Under Paris was beautiful. Deaths alone make this a banger."

'Under Paris' delights fans with over-the-top violence but feel-good vibe

Many fans enjoyed the violent shark scenes in the film, while others appreciated the opportunity to simply sit back and witness the unfolding drama. One fan said, "I love a movie that just doesn’t give a single f**k and goes all in on the over the top. This is what UnderParis does for almost two hours and it was glorious. Sure the CGI don’t always look great, but it was such a fun ride."

One user humorously wrote, "While everyone is foaming at the mouth for The Acolyte, I'm out here watching Netflix's French adaptation of Greta Thunberg's uber socialist, eco-terrorist wet dream. Under Paris is legit the MOST fun I've had with a movie so far this year." 

"Honestly can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a Netflix original this much. Fun, slightly preposterous scenario, solid performances, ecological concerns and some genuinely awesome effects work. Also, the third act is properly bonkers," said a fan impressed by the movie's third act. 

One fan wrote, "Under Paris was wild. it takes a second to get going, but there's always great underlying tension. the ending was over the top in the best way. looooooove a shark movie," while another said, "Just watched the Under Paris shark movie via Netflix and most of it is just dumb fun but then HOLY S**T THAT ENDING!! Whaaaaaaaaaattttttt!! Oui oui, Xavier Gens, that is some good s**t right there. You tell' em!!"
