'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 Episode 13: If Meredith chooses to stay with Derek, will Cristina look after her kids?
Fans of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) have watched with part delight and part dread, as Meredith and Derek have inched closer to each other on the beach in Meredith's mind. In the trailer of the upcoming episode, we see that Derek has got Meredith's back quite literally, as she leans into him contentedly. Fans of course were in a tizzy, wondering if Meredith can touch Derek if she's still alive, or can she and Derek only touch if she is part of his world so to speak.
In the trailer, we see Meredith saying she's tired and wants Derek closer. Derek tells her if she comes closer, Meredith completes the sentence, saying then she can never leave.

While fans understand that it's tempting for Meredith to want to stay back with Derek, they now feel that Meredith needs a wake-up call, quite literally. The best person for the job, no prizes for guessing, is Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). One fan on Youtube says, "Here is when Cristina comes back and tells Meredith: He is very dreamy, but he is not the sun, you are... and Mer wakes up." Another fan echoed the sentiment saying, "Insert Cristina at Mer’s bedside: Whatever, everyone has problems. Now get your ass out of bed and get to work, NOW!”
Fans were obviously worried about what happens to Meredith's kids, if she chooses to remain with Derek. One fan on YouTube said, "Bruh just immagining Cristina being angry of Meredith dying since she has the custody of her kids.. you get it.. Cristina and kids… ☠️" Others were also similarly concerned. Another viewer on YouTube said, "I appreciate the writers bringing Derek back, but y’all need to stop now, I am so scared of Meredith running behind him. Just imagine mommy christina!!!! Them poor kids.......writers plz stop, when’s she’s awake, we can do a reflection episode or something, but in the mean time, stop!!!"
However, with Amelia and Link now having looked after Meredith's kids for a while now, we wonder if it will in fact come to Cristina taking care of Meredith's kids. One thing is for sure though, fans feel a dose of Cristina Yang is exactly what Meredith Grey needs right now.
