Netflix's Resident Evil show slammed as 'most aggressively s**t TV series’

Netflix dropped a new sci-fi series called ‘Resident Evil’ on Thursday, July 14, and it seems people are already hating it. The show is reportedly the latest adaption of the survival horror game of the same name, and which has previously been reimagined as comic books, animated films, novels, anime series, and audio dramas.

The eight episode drama is reportedly set in the year 2036 as its description reads, “14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation, but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.”

The series’ executive producer is Andrew Dabb, who is also its writer and showrunner while the cast includes names like Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Lance Reddick, and Paola Núñez. However, soon after its release, people slammed it as a user tweeted, “#ResidentEvilNetflix writers after writing the most aggressively s**t TV series of 2022.” Another user wrote, “Oh God that terrible new Resident Evil Netflix show is out! Oh you poor RE fans I feel for you.” “Stupid, imaginative, and uneven? That sounds like Resident Evil alright,” the third one said.

A person making fun of the series shared, “Dont ask @YaBoyRoshi , I'll give you the short answer, HELL NO WE ARE NOT WATCHING THIS 🤣🤣🤣 The dialogue bro!!! I had to look it up. #ResidentEvilNetflix.” The second one stated, “The new #ResidentEvilNetflix show… I’m sorry but after the first episode I was done.” 

A self-proclaimed fan of the game noted, “I couldn't even finish the first episode. If you've played RE games, you'll be disappointed. This shit is just disrespectful to the RE fanbase. I don't get how people with no knowledge of the source material are allowed to make this series. #ResidentEvilNetflix #ResidentEvil.” Another one shared a meme and said, “Me after binging #ResidentEvilNetflix even though I hated it from Episode 1 #VTuber #ENVTuber.”
