Did Netflix change Ms Frizzle? Fans demand ‘Jewish lesbian’ back but here's who ‘The Magic School Bus’ character is

The distinctly younger-looking Ms Frizzle on Netflix's 'The Magic School Bus' reboot isn't our beloved Ms. Valerie Frizzle but instead her sister Fiona Frizzle

When you think of PBS's hit animated show 'The Magic School Bus', your mind wanders off to the amazing science teacher aka Ms Valerie Frizzle on the show. The sassy, middle-aged teacher with a wild personality that matches her frizzy hair.

Ms Frizzle's fun and interesting way of teaching science not only educated her students but also generations of people who watched the show. So, when Netflix released the reboot of the show- 'The Magic School Bus Rides Again', the OG show's fans were beyond thrilled to catch up on how Ms Frizzle was doing and what she had been upto. But unfortunately when they saw the new Ms Frizzle's avatar, saying that they were disappointed would be an understatement.

When fans saw their favorite red-haired character with a completely different look, they weren't pleased. The new Ms Fizzle on Netflix's reboot is shown having straight hair, a perfect nose, and even looks suspiciously younger than the Ms. Fizzle we saw on our favorite PBS show. So, fans wasted no time voicing their rage against the new Ms Fizzle on Twitter.

Remembering her as a Jewish lesbian, one wrote, "When I was your age, Ms Frizzle was a Jewish lesbian." Another said, "Netflix really was like 'Ms. Frizzle but not Jewish'."

A fan tweeted, "The change is very sinister to me. characters with hair and noses like the original Ms Frizzle are conspicuously rare given how much of the world looks like that. That those were the features they removed, and what they replaced them with, is so devoid of texture and good taste."

Another fan wrote, "Old ms. frizzle looks like an actual mid-30s school teacher who went to a women's college, did a lot of drugs, and burned out new ms. frizzle looks like the actress who would get cast to play old ms. frizzle in a rom-com where she meets a stockbroker and becomes a housewife."

A third pointed out, "The new ms frizzle would tell me my autism is curable through prayer."

"New ms frizzle looks like the main character in a work orientation video explaining that benefits for new employees don’t kick in for 300 days," one agitated fan said. Another fan expressed, "Idk how to explain it but the new ms frizzle is homophobic."

Some fans however realized that the picture that was being circulated of the younger-looking teacher as Ms Frizzle wasn't the OG Ms Valerie Frizzle, that we have all grown up loving.

Did you know it was her sister, Fiona Frizzle, instead? Our beloved OG Ms Frizzle reportedly got her doctorate and was promoted as a Professor, who now takes trips around the world exploring various facets of science but without her fourth-grade students. So, the new fourth-grade teacher is Ms Fiona Frizzle, to who Valerie handed her class off. But unfortunately, even this explanation didn't pacify angry fans. When Netflix did show us the original Ms Frizzle, she still looked extremely different than the one we grew up looking at... and the criticisms against her look still lingered.

A fan pointed, "The picture I shared is of the character that is Ms Frizzle’s younger sister. Here are both characters in the new series. My complaint still stands."
