'Will u ever learn?': NCT Dream's Jisung under fire for making colorist remarks on Haechan

NCT's Jisung was caught fat-shaming and making colorist remarks at Haechan who often gets trolled for his darker skin tone

Looks like SM Entertainment idols will never learn and the way NCT Dream members have been treating member Haechan is proof of why Black fans of K-pop feel the need to raise their voices against injustice. Earlier this year, GOT the beat members, soloist BoA, asepa's Karina, and Girls' Generation's Hyeyeon were caught in a debacle where the soloist joked about Hyeyeon's past tanned skin. The girls were seen laughing over a darker-skinned Hyeyeon and the Girls' Generation member herself joined in as well. 

In a day and age where inclusivity is key and people from all walks of life wish to feel included, fans of K-pop are still struggling to educate idols on basic etiquette like being open to people with weights, skin tones, and races other than their own. On June 8, a set of screenshots went viral on the Internet where NCT Dream's Jisung was caught asking someone if member Haechan's skin tone would get lighter if he ate a certain kind of food.

Jisung gets called out for fat-shaming and colorist remarks

As soon as the post went viral on Twitter, fans called out NCT Dream's Jisung for not being considerate about the feelings of his bandmate Haechan as well as the feelings of black fans who adored the boy group and its members. Fans are now pointing out that this is not the first instance where the NCT member has trolled Haechan for his skin color and that the idol was previously found fat-shaming the member. Not only that but fans are also drawing attention to other NCT members for looking down on Haechan's darker skin tone in the past. 

One fan said, "Will u ever learn jisung? few months ago you were fatshaming him now you’re being a colorist. you were called out and educated by some through sending a bubble but here u are again with another remark. you should know when to stop and draw the line." One fan said, "Anyway stan haechan...tf idk what to say about jisung like this colorist s**t is tiring asf he too grown for this." Another fan said, "And also... iam sorry jisung its sad to know this, i have to skipped this part."

One more fan added, "You’re a grown man now, ji. Never expect most fans to defend you on this kind of situation where in you’re wrong." Another fan said, "Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if he actually bullies the members." One fan claimed, "He’s never going to learn from his mistakes if you keep condoning his actions and excusing them. it was regarded to haechan, but if jisung has this kind of mindset even to his ‘friend’, then how do you think he is to others as well?"

'I am darker, will he comment on my skin too?'

Angry fans of NCT as well as other K-pop fans in general are trolling Jisung for being a colorist towards his own bandmate as one fan said, "My skin is darker compared to hc, i wonder if he'll comment on my skin tone." One user called out fans who supported him saying, "He's a grown up man not a kid anymore stop defending him." Another fan said, "Nctzens always say "let's educate him", but they have been saying that for the nth time !! he just never learns." One fan said, "And the fact that hc is always the target. he has the prettiest skin tone I've seen."

One fan defended, "Their jokes (always) exposed too obviously maybe members will understand but for strangers who didn't know them (personally) this too risky,, im sorry but it's Haechan and i feel sad of his statement." One fan lashed out, "Why do they always feel the need to comment on his skin colour like these jokes about him are genuinely fucking annoying jus bcs hes too kind and may not take it to heart doesn’t make it okay anws he still very much relevant, getting the praise, and famous." One fan trolled Jisung saying, "No cause it’s crazy like haechan not even dark like y’all one shade from each other!" Another fan said, "Me counting the amount of times they've made fun of haechan's skin."
