Covid in K-pop: NCT Dream halt ALL activities after Jeno and Chenle test positive
The news of K-pop idols falling ill is something that causes a lot of concern among fans. While the beginning of the year 2022 was plagued with Covid in K-pop cases, the last couple of months has been better. Idols and fans rejoiced as comeback season was in full swing. The decrease in Covid cases in Korea also facilitated the restart of K-pop concerts with cheering as well as the presence of the audience on music shows.
One K-pop group that shocked fans by not having any positive Covid-19 cases during the entire peak of the pandemic was NCT but the virus finally got to them too. On the night of June 2, it was announced that NCT Dream members Jeno and Chenle were the two newest members of the group to be diagnosed with Covid-19. The label SM Entertainment, which manages the activities of the group, announced that both members had tested positive for the virus using a self-test kit and later took an official test from the hospital that also gave a positive result.

NCT Jeno and Chenle test positive for Covid
Last month when NCT 127 members were performing in Japan for their ‘Neo City: The Link’ concert, member Taeil had tested positive for Covid-19. Following that, it was reported that Jisung and Jungwoo of NCT had also tested positive for the virus and had to be quarantined. Now, members Chenle and Jeno have both been diagnosed with the coronavirus. This has caused concern among NCTzens (NCT fans) who are worried about the health and safety of the boy group. The label stated that all members of NCT Dream underwent a self-diagnostic kit test prior to the morning schedule.
It was reported that before the scheduled video fan signing event for the afternoon of June 2, NCT’s Jeno felt abnormal symptoms and took the self-diagnosis kit test again which gave a positive result. The member went ahead for a rapid antigen test and was confirmed to have Covid-19. At the same time, all NCT Dream members performed a preemptive rapid antigen test too. This was when Chenle also tested positive. However, the remaining members tested negative for the virus.
NCT Dream schedule grinds to a complete halt
SM Entertainment has announced Jeno and Chenle have already completed the third dose of their Covid-19 vaccine and will immediately stop all their upcoming schedules as they quarantine in self-isolation according to the guidelines of the quarantine authorities. Not taking any chances, the label has inevitably canceled all scheduled activities for all NCT Dream members for the rest of this week, starting June 2, as they rest and stay alert to catch any more positive Covid-19 cases among the members or staff. Meanwhile, the boy group made a comeback on May 30 with their second full-length repackaged album, ‘Beatbox’. Fans are sharing their messages and best wishes for Jeno and Chenle hoping for them to get well soon.
