Despite the fact that fans had been joking about the fall of SM Entertainment with the fall of the Kwangya building, six floors of which are owned by the label, it has been a serious issue and architectural experts finally have answers. Back in January 2022, the fire department of South Korea was called in to investigate reports of severe vibrations that were felt at the Acro Seoul Forest, located in Seoul.

The building called ‘Tower D’ at the Acro Seoul Forest, which is also called the Kwangya building is owned by the likes of Hyundai, Socar Company as well as SM Entertainment with other floors allocated to luxury residential units. It seems like the vibrations caused in the building finally have been evaluated and SM Entertainment artists are to be blamed.

Experts report their investigation

Officials were called to investigate after residents of the building as well as the building owners LB Asset Management requested a formal analysis by the Architectural Institute of Korea. After an investigation that went on for approximately 2 months, it was recently revealed that the cause of the tremors and vibrations at 'Tower D' aka Kwangya building was due to the “increased amplitude caused by concentrated, rhythmic group movement.”

While it was originally claimed that the vibrations were caused by strong winds, earthquakes, or nearby construction but it seems like concentrated feet drumming for over 30 seconds result in the resonance that was detected on several floors. The chart presented in the investigation also revealed that the most vibrations were caused after an activity that occurred on floors 9 and 10 of the Kwangya building.

SM Entertainment artists are too much in sync

The floors hold practice rooms of various SM Entertainment artists and the team has finally concluded that the tremors are caused by SM Entertainment artists or trainees performing synchronized choreography, causing a resonance effect throughout the building. However, it was also revealed that there were no immediate concerns involving the safety of the inhabitants of the building or any anomalies related to the architectural design and construction method of the building.

The architectural experts concluded that the Kwangya building was stable but also recommend installing devices that can control large vibrations caused by synchronized movements by groups involving many members.

‘NCT said Resonance effet’

Fans are joking about how the Korean media initially made a big deal out of a minor issue as one fan asked, “And what if their album theme that year was 'earthquake in kwangya'? that building would have to be evacuated everytime they have a group practice session.” One fan joked, “Kwangya building world record for world's largest drum.” Another fan added, “Kwangya building found shaking crying screaming.” One fan said, “NCT causing Kwangya to shake and causing tremors in the building for dancing too hard. they the black mamba.”

One fan said, “The way they literally said "Resonance effect." One fan said, “And that's on nct 127 being sm' most synchronised group.” One fan said, “So I guess this is where the inspiration for Earthquake by NCT came from.” They also added, “Maybe the dance practice rooms gotta move somewhere else bc imagine NCT group practice of 20+ men moving in sync. That's really gonna f**k up the structure once they add more members.”
