Why is 'NCIS' Season 17 Episode 17 not airing this week and when will it air next?

To make up for the lack of a fresh new 'NCIS' adventure this week, we have some information on what to expect on the upcoming Episode 17 when it finally airs

It's not your regular Tuesday, it's Super Tuesday, and that means a not so great time for 'NCIS' fans as the CBS procedural is taking the night off.

In keeping with their extended break since the last week, 'NCIS' Season 17 is once again taking time off from network television and will finally air next week, on Tuesday, March 10, at its usual 7 pm slot.

The show is quite known for taking random breaks throughout the season that might not always fall in their midseason break. And with March 3 being Super Tuesday, aka the 2020 United States presidential primary election results day, it makes more sense why CBS doesn't want to steal people's attention with its long-running procedural.

Additionally, CBS has also been airing the live coverage 'CBS News Democratic Primary Debate' from 7 pm to 9:15 pm, but to fill in the usual NCIS slot this week on March 3, CBS was supposed to be airing this ongoing season 17's Episode 2: 'Into The Light.' The official synopsis for the episode reads: "With their lives in danger, Gibbs and Ziva's rogue investigation takes an unexpected turn when a possible terrorist plot is revealed."

But worry not, to make up for the lack of a fresh new 'NCIS' adventure this week, we have some information on what to expect in the upcoming Episode 17 when it finally airs. According to CBS' official synopsis for the episode titled 'In a Nutshell', "A group of investigators, led by Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, look into crimes related to the Navy and Marine Corps. The cases include everything from murder, to terrorism, to espionage."

Way to pump up the stakes for our beloved NCIS team, right? Well, clearly it's working in their favor as the current Season 17 is averaging 11.371 million LIVE viewers per episode. What's better? It's also garnered a whopping 1.09 ratings score in the 18-49-year-old demographics.

'NCIS' Season 17 airs on Tuesdays, at 8 pm only on CBS.
