'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 premiere sees Hannah Khoury's detrimental judgement call bring up her past

In the 'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 premiere episode, we saw Hannah Khoury (Necar Zadegan) receive an order of suspension from Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula). She took a judgement call during a joint operation between their team and the FBI, in which they were tracking a terror group that had its hands on a bomb made of nerve gas.

The operation was set to take place smoothly if things had gone according to FBI agent Harper's (Adam David Thompson) plan. However, Hannah's call to infiltrate earlier than planned, to save two women who were in the premises where the raid was set to take place, messed everything up.

Two FBI agents get shot, and the bomb is also sneaked out of the premises. The mystery here is that it is unclear who took it. During the recon by both FBI and NCIS, the team only spotted six men in the premises, and all six were shot down by NCIS and FBI agents.

The failure to procure the duffel bag which had the bomb and the fact that two of his guys were shot, leads Harper to file a formal complaint against Hannah. Dwayne, who was until then on a vacation with Rita, is called back in after he goes through a review given what happened in season 5.

He is sent to order Hannah off the investigation. She hindered the operation by not following Harper's lead, and it seemed that the higher-ups were keen on her being commissioned out after the incident. Instead, with Dwayne's support, Hannah not only takes part in the investigation, but she does a really good job in the hopes of getting the suspension revoked.

None of this flies well with the superiors. Despite a good performance on the case, Dwayne is told that this is the end for Hannah. He is told that she has always been unreliable and her recent call on field has only accentuated this characteristic of hers further.

In fact, when Dwayne tries to speak up for Hannah, and her instincts, he is told that this is not the first time Hannah has let herself be carried away. While Dwayne doesn't know what happened in Hannah's past, he still supports her.

He talks a deal with the higher officials of NCIS and gets them to agree to Hannah being on the team. She does get demoted. In return, Dwayne will also stay on with the team as their lead and give up his administration post.

However, Dwayne asks Hannah what the incident from her past that continues to haunt her is.  She doesn't reveal it and makes light of the same. This could be the line the plot will follow. Dwayne's struggle with his kidnapping that occurred in the previous season could be another subplot that we will see further explored this season.

The next 'NCIS: New Orleans' Season 6 episode titled 'The Terminator Conundrum' will air Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
