'The Voice' Season 19: Tony Mason fails to get a single chair turn, fans ask 'what is wrong with these judges'

Fans slammed 'The Voice' coaches for not turning their chairs for a talented performer like Tony Mason

Tony Mason is no stranger to stages and stars. The 56-year-old Tony and his brothers formed a band called the Mason Brothers. They tasted success at a young age when one of their songs managed to make it to the number 2 position on Billboard! Unfortunately, that success didn't last for too long, as the Mason Brothers' record label terminated their contract and left them with no label.

In his introduction video, Tony expressed how it was very difficult for him to step away from his true passion — singing. But he soon got busy raising his children and let his passion take the back seat. Tony describes himself as the only grandfather on the show and reveals that finally, he is ready to get back on the stage and pursue his passion once again.

Tony then got on the stage and gave a beautiful performance to a Marvin Gaye number 'What's Going On'. Although the judges seemed to enjoy the performance, none of them turned around. After his performance, the judges explained why they didn't turn for him.

Coach Kelly Clarkson revealed that she was waiting for him to hit the high note, but he didn't so she couldn't turn for him. John Legend too echoed similar thoughts by pointing out how Tony stayed on the same range instead of showing variations in his voice.

Blake Shelton admitted that he would have probably turned his chair, but hesitated because Tony seemed to be leaning towards jazz and blues. He explained that he wouldn't be the best person to coach a contestant on these genres so passed up on Tony. Fans however weren't pleased with the judges' explanation and wondered why they didn't turn for a talented performer like Tony.

A fan tweeted, "@NBCTheVoice what is wrong with these judges. Tony Mason was absolutely perfect and not one judge turned around. This show is going down hill. Maybe they need to go back to the first seasons."

"What the hell is wrong with them!!! Tony was GOOD!!!! #TheVoice," wrote a fan. Another fan expressed, "A 56 year old, and he's singing a Marvin Gaye song and he's good! Turn! #TheVoice." "Tony Mason bringing that old school soul sound to #TheVoice #VoiceBlinds stage. He has the smooth and a lil gruff. Stop pulling off the mic. Let those notes ring. Loving this rendition, but he doesn’t get a chair. Wtf?" questioned an angry fan.
