NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On Wednesday, October 4, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins confronted Republican Nancy Mace on live TV regarding her campaign donation requests, particularly after her involvement in supporting Rep Matt Gaetz and the Democratic Caucus in removing Rep Kevin McCarthy from the Speaker's office on Tuesday, October 3.

Back in January, Mace had strongly criticized Gaetz for a similar kind of fundraising based on his opposition to McCarthy's bid for the Speakership.

She had stated, "Matt Gaetz is a fraud. Every time he voted against Kevin McCarthy last week, he sent out a fundraising email," during an interview on CBS at that time.

Following this event, Kaitlan Collins took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her interview with Mace and update the public on what Mace had to say in her defence.

However, netizens didn’t respond well to Mace’s statements and brutally slammed her, commenting on Collins’ tweet, calling Mace “another fraud.”

Kaitlan Collins reports on Nancy Mace’s reasons for fundraising

CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins took to X and wrote, “In January, Nancy Mace said Matt Gaetz was a fraud and criticized him for fundraising amid McCarthy’s fight for the gavel. Today she appeared on a podcast with him and is fundraising following her vote to oust McCarthy. Her response tonight.”

She featured her interview with Nancy Mace with the tweet where Mace admitted to supporting McCarthy back in January. However, she ended up being one of the eight GOP Reps to help in ousting McCarthy from his House Speaker post.

Collins questioned Mace, “I’m glad you brought that up because back in January, when there were the marathon votes for Kevin McCarthy to get this job, he was fighting to get the gavel. This is something that you said."

Then Collins questioned Mace, saying, "Of course, now here we are in October. You and Congressman Gaetz are in agreement on at least ousting McCarthy. You were on a podcast together today. You yourself have been fundraising off that vote. How do you... how do you explain that now?”

Mace replied, “Well, I have not been fundraising off of this every step of the way. I made my decision last night. I made the decision to fundraise over the last 24 hours because of the threats that I have received over fundraising and money drying up, which is why I need help.”

She continued, “The people, the establishment is coming after me. I’ve gotten a lot of threats from different groups and different members that they will withhold fundraising no matter what, and I do need help from the people.”

“And that was a decision that I made late last night because of everything that was going on. And it is a genuine ask. And if they want, if people want to support the effort, they can go to NancyMace.org,” she concluded.

Internet slams Nancy Mace on ousting Kevin McCarthy

Soon after Kaitlan Collins tweeted her interview with Rep Nancy Mace and questioned her on using the same fundraising shtick as Matt Gaetz, netizens brutally slammed her.

One person wrote, “Turns out, Nancy Mace is a horrible person,” and another added, “Why oh why do we care about Nancy Mace. We don’t.”

A person simply called out Mace saying, “Mace is another fraud.”

One more said, “She's an opportunist who's willing to latch on to anyone or anything that might somehow benefit her,” and another wrote, “She’s the worst flip flopper opportunist.”

Another took a brutal jab at Mace saying, “Mace is such a hypocrite.....flip flops like a fish out of water."

The tweet continued, "The issues she is facing now are all self inflicted. She knows what and how MAGA reacts to those who don't tow the line. Look at Cheney and Kinzinger on how they were black balled. Karma for Mace.”
