'Nancy Drew' Episode 11: Nancy's quest to save her dad clashes with Owen's pursuit of justice
This story contains major spoilers for episode 11 of 'Nancy Drew' titled 'The Phantom of the Bonny Scot'
When 'Nancy Drew' returned to television after its fall break, we saw Nancy (Kennedy McMann) struggling with the fact that she put her father Carson Drew (Scott Wolf) in jail. With enough circumstantial evidence against him, Carson found himself behind bars while Nancy, torn about her father's situation tries to get him out.
In 'The Phantom of the Bonny Scot', Nancy's quest to clear her father's name clashes with Owen Marvin's (played by Miles Gaston Villanueva) quest to bring justice to the 12 people who died aboard the Bonny Scot, including his uncle Sebastian. And when this happens, she needs to decide just how far she is ready to go to get Carson out of jail.
Meanwhile, she is still being haunted by the ghost of Lucy Sable who is pushing her to find out what happened to her. But the episode wastes a lot of time on a crime that doesn't even directly affect the Drew Crew; Owen's investigation into the Bonny Scot is essentially to find what happened to his uncle, which he does find out. But in that pursuit, we spend the entirety of the episode chasing a mystery that could have been kept out of the whole charade.
Elsewhere in Horseshoe Bay, the Claw is going through some serious financial trouble, which has prompted the owner to put the restaurants on the market. George Fan ( played by Leah Lewis) is scared at the prospect of losing her bread and butter and guess who pulls up to the rescue Nick Nickerson (Tunji Kasim).
Apparently, Nick put in an offer for the restaurant and is willing to split with George. We're telling you right now, these two are going to be something more than just friends sometime soon because not only do they have chemistry but also a connection that Nick did not share with Nancy, who maintained a certain distance from him. George, on the other hand, barely has any inhibitions when it comes to Nick.
So far, 'Nancy Drew' wasn't exactly earning groundbreaking praise for the show's contribution to the supernatural/mystery realm but with 'The Phantom of the Bonny Scot' they delivered a boring episode that doesn't live up to the otherwise average standard of the show.
'Nancy Drew' airs on The CW on Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT.
