We are finally getting more details on APRIL members after the group, unfortunately, disbanded over bullying rumors. Yena had revealed that their group’s image had been tarnished after former member Lee Hyunjoo had claimed that APRIL had bullied her. The girls had denied all claims and even filed lawsuits. However, Hyunjoo was cleared of defamation charges as the court ruled that she was only sharing her point of view instead of stating facts. APRIL hoped to further themselves from the rumors by separating and going on their individual paths, as evident with Naeun and Chaekyung’s new agencies.

Leader Chaekyung became the first APRIL member to leave their label DSP and shared that she would be signing with a new label to expand her acting career. Chaewon, on the other hand, is continuing with her lawsuit against Hyunjoo as she was the most affected by the rumors, to the extent that trolls even sent her death threats.  We then had reports that member Lee Naeun would be leaving DSP and joining the acting agency Namoo Actors. The agency then revealed that they had indeed met with Naeun but nothing had been finalized.

APRIL's Naeun bullying controversy: Accuser apologizes, fans say 'damage has been done'

Namoo Actors CEO follows ex-APRIL star Naeun

On May 31, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the CEO of Namoo Actors, the acting agency that was in talks with Naeun, had ended up following the former APRIL member on Instagram. Many believe that this more or less confirms Naeun joining the agency. Namoo Actors is home to popular K-drama actors like Lee Joon-gi, Song Kang, Park Eun-bin and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun. Naeun on the other hand is known for her roles in dramas like ‘Extraordinary You’ and ‘A-Teen’.

But it looks like Knetizens are not happy with the news. Along with Hyunjoo’s bullying claims against all of APRIL, an alleged victim had claimed that Lee Naeun had bullied her in school. After a year, in January 2022, the police found the accuser guilty of defamation through false rumors and forwarded her to the prosecution. However, Naeun dropped the charges as the accuser apologized. It was revealed that the former classmate made up the lies out of jealousy towards Naeun, who was always lively and friendly.

'Why did they sign her'

Unfortunately, Knetizens are still not letting her off the hook and have deemed her problematic. They made comments like, “Why did they sign her? There are quite a few actresses around her age who have better acting than herㅋㅋ,” “Well, I’m personally so disappointed with Namoo Actors,” and “I thought Namoo Actors said they believe people’s character is the most important.”

However, some fans are happy. One said, “I can’t wait until she comes back.” Another posted, “Naeun changed companies and these people still are jobless seething on the internet, she wins.” One tweeted, “Good for her whether it’s true or not I hope she’s happy in whatever she chooses to do from now on although I do hope to see her again acting or singing.”
