The latest episode of FOX musical reality show ‘Name That Tune’ kicked-off with contestants Herschel and Stephanie. The 2021 version of the show tests contestants’ music knowledge as they battle it out in an assortment of musical games for cash and prizes.

Each episode will consist of two stand-alone half-hour contests, each pitting two players against each other as they race against the clock to test their knowledge of songs, performed by the live band. The first two rounds in the game are a guessing round and a bidding round. The contestant that makes the most money in the first two rounds goes on to play the Golden Buzzer round to win prize money of $100,000.

Battle of the best

The very first round started off with ‘On Shuffle’ where Herschel, from Chicago, started on a positive note but it was Stephanie, who was lagging behind, who ended up winning. She also bagged the bonus prize which was an electric scooter. Herschel only managed to earn $3,000, whereas, Stephanie showed her girl power as she steered ahead with $18,000.

In the second round called ‘Bid-A-Note’, the contestants have to bid in how many notes they can guess the track in, and if they fail to do so, the opponent with the lowest bid gets to go first. The opponent gets to guess the track in 10 notes as they get the advantage of the option they have called “steal”.

Stephanie, who revealed during the show that she stays fit with the help of pole dancing classes, performed exceptionally well in the second round. She wrapped up the round by pocketing $58,000. Unfortunately, Herschel had to head back home as his slow guessing skills did not really help him out here.

How much did Stephanie win?

For the third round of ‘Name That Tune’ called ‘Golden Medley’, the winner from ‘Bid-A-Note’ gets to guess seven songs of the tune but they have to do it within 30 seconds. They can also pass and move to the next one, and come back if the time allows.

When host Jane Krakowski what Stephanie what she plans to do with the grand prize money, she said she wants to either renovate the kitchen or buy a new house. Showing her utmost confidence, Stephanie passed the very first tune but she guessed the second and third one correctly. She slipped when she almost gave the wrong one but got back on her toes with the correct answer.

However, in the end, looks like the anxiety took over her confidence as she guessed a song wrong and lost her chance to win the big money. She ended up winning a total of $88,000.
