Episode five of FOX’s musical reality show ‘Name That Tune’ saw Stephanie taking home $88,000 in the first half. Two new contestants came in the second half of the show in the form of Winston and Tim – both from Minnesota. The musical reality show tests contestants’ music knowledge as they battle it out in an assortment of challenging musical games for cash and prizes.

Each episode will consist of two stand-alone half-hour contests, each pitting two players against each other as they race against the clock to test their knowledge of songs, performed by the live band. The first two rounds in the game are a guessing round and a bidding round. The contestant that makes the most money in the first two rounds goes on to play the Golden Buzzer round to win the grand prize money of $100,000.

Winston versus Tim

Host Jane Krakowski along with the band leader Randy Jackson kick-started the very first round called ‘Title Track’ where Winston and Tim had to guess the tracks of the legendary tunes. Winston introduced himself as a Latin dance instructor who is single, a romantic and a Scorpion. He even showed a bit of tango with Jane Krakowski, which left her really impressed. Tim, on the other hand, revealed that he is a special educator who helps students with disabilities.

Coming back to the competition, Winston started off-really well but it was Tim who won the first round. The second round called ‘Bid-A-Note’ was also won by Tim as Winston made a few silly mistakes which made him exit the show. In ‘Bid-A-Note’, the contestants have to bid in how many notes they can guess the track and if they fail to do so, the opponent with the lowest bid gets to go first. The opponent gets to guess the track in 10 notes as they get the advantage of the option they have called “steal.” Tim ended up with $23,000 in his pocket as he made his way to the final round called ‘Golden Medley.’

How much did Tim win in the end?

In ‘Name That Tune’s final round ‘Golden Medley’, the winner from ‘Bid-A-Note’ gets to guess seven songs on the tune played but the twist is one has to do all in 30 seconds. They can also pass and move to the next one and come back again if the time allows. When the host Jane Krakowski asked what Tim plans to do if he ends up winning the grand prize, he revealed that he aims to shell out his money on a mini-van for his kids as he loves spending time with them. Tim, who looked a bit nervous at first, easily guessed all the seven songs. He won the grand prize of $100,000 after he guessed the tune of ‘American Pie’ correctly. In the end, he took home a total sum of $123,000.

How did the Internet react to Tim’s win?

A lot of social media users took to Twitter to talk about Tim winning the big amount. Speaking on the same lines, one user stated, “Attaboy Tim (a special ed teacher) from Minneapolis for winning $100k grand prize on Name That Tune. Dude says he’s going to buy a minivan.” Another shared, “Omg awesome episode of #NameThatTune  Way to go Tim!  Our whole house just bust out cheering when he won.” One user tweeted, “Tim had the easiest final 7 songs so far.... #NameThatTune” One posted, “Tim is 123k richer!
