David Kim (Ken Jeong) pursues Nancy (Anna Faris) while Sophie (Chloe Coleman) and Colin (Taeho K), along with their classmates, join the annual show. Soon, Sophie encounters two men and uses her taser on them, only to be shocked when she realizes it's Carlos (Devere Rogers) and Todd (Noah Danby).

Todd explains how they survived after Bobbi (Kristen Schaal) threw the grenades but they were able to escape from there. Meanwhile, JJ (Dave Bautista) fights bad men in suits, and one escapes, activating the kill switch on the bomb. JJ chases after him. In another room, Todd hits Sophie, knocking her to the ground, but Colin and Ryan come to her rescue.

However, Ryan leaves abruptly, shattering Sophie's crush on him. Colin stays by her side. In the ensuing fight, Sophie takes down both Todd and Colin. JJ texts Sophie, instructing her to evacuate the building, but she grabs a scooter to find him instead.

JJ continues chasing the man with the kill switch. After a city-wide chase, the bad guy knocks JJ down and is about to shoot him when Sophie intervenes.

JJ recovers and takes down the villain, but realizes the kill switch is in the truck the bad guy was driving, now sinking into a lake. JJ dives after the truck, but can't reach the remote because the car window is too small.

Sophie arrives and retrieves the remote but gets confused by the numbers and buttons. JJ manages to stop the kill switch just in time, and a rescue team arrives. Nurses pull JJ out of the water, and Sophie hugs him in relief.

Meanwhile, in the city, Colin stops Nancy by pretending to be her son, speaking in Spanish and begging her not to abandon him. This moves the crowd, especially the mothers, who turn against Nancy. Colin's father, the chief, arrives, and Colin realizes he works secretly in the CIA, not as a nurse.

Sophie apologizes to JJ for her behavior and encourages him to return to his job, meanwhile, Colin and Sophie share a kiss, realizing Colin's efforts for her. JJ and Kim find happiness with their family, but as the movie hits the conclusion birds fly out of Kim's car and perch on him, JJ suggests Kim run, marking the humourous light-hearted conclusion of the movie.
