'My 600-lb Life': Joyce's mom is responsible for her uncontrollable eating habits and not her granny, say fans

Joyce Del Viscovo has been struggling with her weight ever since she was a small girl and now that she is 44, looking back at what happened in the past, she believes that multiple things resulted in her weight gain. However, fans think that Joyce's mother was the main reason why her eating habits worsened.

When Joyce was young, her mother, also Joyce, remarried after separating from Joyce's father. The new man in her mother's life already had children of his own and Joyce was hurt when her mother chose to move in with the husband and his three children while leaving Joyce to live with the grandmother.

Even though Joyce went on to live with her mother after the latter divorced her second husband, their relationship deteriorated over time. The two were unable to reach an understanding and Joyce's weight was slowly creating a crack in their relationship. Her mother tried to control her weight by putting her on diets but all of them were of little help.

Once Joyce got her driving license, she was able to go around and indulge in eating junk food for a long time. While her mother still goes on to feed her with the food that might be slowly killing her, fans believe that there is no point of her mother feeling bad because she was the reason that led Joyce to gain all the weight and look at food for comfort.

Many took to social media to express their thoughts. "Joyce is living proof that choosing a man over your children is always a bad idea. Also, whatever reason Joyce’s 'mother' has for that, is no excuse at all," read one comment. Another added, "Can't believe how Joyce's mother abandoned her... and have the nerve to be mad at Joyce's grandma for overfeeding her?"

Some thought that Joyce's mother was not living up to the expectations of a good mother as another comment read, "She gets more love and affection from her aunt than her mom. I can tell you I don't have an urgency to be a mom but if I did, I would love that child to no end... protect them, guide them and uplift them to be a great person. Joyce's mom isn't a mom."

Even though fans blame Joyce's mother for the weight gain, weighing 758lbs, it is up to Joyce to turn her life around and get approved for the weight loss surgery.

'My 600-lbs Life' airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on TLC.
