Air time and how to live stream

The bone-chilling docuseries about the brutal killing of Rocio Wanninkhof will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday, June 23. According to the Netflix press site, ‘Murder by the Coast’ will be airing on the streaming platform at 3 am ET. The viewers can subscribe to Netflix to watch the docuseries.

Plot

“In 1999, the young Rocío Wanninkhof was killed. Dolores Vázquez, her mother's ex-partner, enters prison without solid evidence to prove her guilt. Influenced by a strong discriminatory campaign, the Spanish public wants to find a culprit. When the lifeless body of another teenager, Sonia Carabantes, appears in 2003, the police catch the real murderer, but by then society has already turned the page. A docuseries that covers the multiple perspectives of the case: judiciary, politics, and media.”

Cast

‘Murder by the Coast’ will feature a lot of interviews from the police officials who investigated the case and people from the media who covered it. Apart from that, there will also be conversations with the family members of the victims.

Creators

The docuseries is directed by Tania Ballo, who is known for making the award-winning documentary film ‘200 km’, while the true-crime series is written by Gonzalo Berger.

Raimon Masllorens and Carol Saliner are serving as executive producers on the project.

Trailer

In the trailer, we see police and volunteers initiating a search operation to find Rocio. However, things went really haywire when her body was found three weeks after she went missing. The clip also shows the desperation of the Spanish police authority to find the culprit even when they did not have any solid evidence against her.

Dolores Vázquez was put into jail for Rocio’s murder and her alibi was not taken into account. She was sent to prison for a crime she never committed.
