'The Challenge: Double Agents': Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio to skip Season 36, fans say 'it won't be the same'

While it looks like he's keener than ever to hang up the boots, he's also not opposed to the idea of competing again only if it were an all OG cast

MTV's 'The Challenge: Double Agents' premieres on December 9 with 20 returning and 10 rookie contestants. They'll compete for the million-dollar prize. Obviously, there are quite a few known faces that the viewers are excited about but they will miss Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio. For the first time in 12 years, he won't be a part of the competition series. He won the 'The Challenge' Season 35 earlier this year along with Jenny West.

"TheChallenge is nothing without Bananas. That's it. That's the tweet. #TheChallenge36," a user tweeted while another echoed: "Yes. The challenge is just not the same without the banana man."

"I will miss him but at the same time he definitely needs a break so I’m excited to see the new season without him on it," a fan expressed. "I'm going to miss him cause he is one of the main guys on the challenge," a viewer shared. "Yes!! It won’t be the same without him. What next- please don’t tell me you’d ever leave CT out!" a fan commented. "Yes he’s cocky and shady but honestly his shadiness is what makes the show entertaining we want bananas !!!!" another posted.

With seven wins to his credit, Bananas is easily one of the most notable faces of the series and naturally, fans would want him to return to the show. While it looks like he's keener than ever to hang up the boots, he's also not opposed to the idea of competing again only if it were an all OG cast, according to a cheetsheat report.

“I’m not gonna sit here and say, like, you know, I’m 100% hanging it up, ’cause I’m not the type of person to do that,” he told the Chicks in the Office podcast and added: “But if there ever was a time for me to kind of like, walk away from 'The Challenge', there wouldn’t be a better and brighter note to do it on.”

So, Bananas loyalists needn't be shattered. There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Catch 'The Challenge: Double Agents' on MTV every Wednesday at 8/7c. For more information, check your local listings.
