With Marvel close to finalizing actress for role of 'Ms Marvel', here's a look at the teen superhero's story
The third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wrapped up with a tremendous bang and set the bar astronomically high. Phase 4 is right around the corner and the upcoming films have fans jumping up and down in excitement.
One crucial role that is close to being announced is 'Ms Marvel' with Marvel just about to finalize the actress for the role of Kamala Khan.
According to MCU Cosmic, after practically a worldwide hunt for a Pakistani-American girl who would take on the superhero mantle, offers are now being made and negotiations are underway.
So in all probability, we will be hearing an announcement soon and it just might be an unknown actress taking on the role.
Marvel is also hunting for a male lead in the series, someone who would be around Kamala's age, who is also Pakistani. It is speculated that this would be equivalent to Bruno from the 'Ms Marvel' comics, who helps her hide her powers from friends and family.
As the production of 'Ms Marvel' is quickly approaching, the announcement for the cast should come soon.
Who is Ms Marvel?
For the unversed, here's a little backstory about Kamala. Originally from Pakistan, her parents and brother moved to the US just before she was born.
A normal Avenger lover who idolises Captain America and Iron Man, Kamala's superpower story involves falling prey to an outbreak of Terrigen Mists, which is a mutagenic substance that generates powers in those with a vulnerable DNA.
Kamala discovers she has the power to modify the size and shape of her body, which means she can stretch her limbs or distort her features to become bigger or smaller, as she wishes. Along with her new-found superpowers, she has to juggle her normal school-life.
Connection to Captain Marvel
When she was trapped in the Terrigen cocoon, she sees the vision of Iron Man, Captain America and Captain Marvel. They ask her what she wants to become in life, and she answers 'Captain Marvel'.
And so, when she emerges from the cocoon, she discovers that she has the powers of Captain Marvel. The two met when the world was about to be annihilated in 'Last Days Of The Universe', where Carol Danvers helped save her brother. She also gifted her a medallion with a Hala star.
'Ms Marvel' will air on Disney+.
