Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover are all set to pair up for a $110 million remake of ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’, the 2005 American action-comedy film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, coming on Amazon. According to a report, Waller-Bridge and Glover will also be the executive producers for the show. Here are all the updates on ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ that you need to know.
On February 12, Donald Glover took it to Instagram stories to share the news. Amazon Studio head Jennifer Salke posted an update and said in a statement, “Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team,” and added “‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency.”

‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ will be released in 2022. No premiere date has been announced yet.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be playing one of the leads in the remake of ‘Mr and Mrs. Smith’. Earlier, Waller-Bridge made history with ‘Fleabag’ which got her Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Comedy Series. Waller Bridge was also the executive producer for 'Killing Eve'.
Donald Glover
Glover, the ‘Community’ star, also won two Emmys for his stellar performance in ‘Atalanta’. The American singer, songwriter, actor, producer, and director starred with Phoebe Waller-Bridge in ‘The Solo: A Star Wars Story’.
Plot
The 2005 spy-flick action-comedy film told the story of John and Jane Smith played by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, stuck in a rut of marriage until a truth comes out which changes the dynamic between them. The two highly-skilled ruthless assassins who are sent to kill each other go on to make one of the steamiest love stories ever.
