'Motherland: Fort Salem' Episode 7: Raelle and Scylla's reunion sees fans demand a happy ending for Raylla
Spoilers for 'Motherland: Fort Salem' Season 1, Episode 7 'Mother Mycelium'
While there is much to love about 'Motherland: Fort Salem,' it's the relationship between Raelle Collar (Taylor Hickson) and Scylla (Amalia Horn) that captured the fans' hearts time and time again. The last episode saw just how Raelle's grief was consuming her and this episode sees that pain intensified as she's shown that Scylla is alive before cruelly being taken away from her almost immediately.
In a heartbreaking scene, Raelle is brought to a captured Scylla in order to break Scylla down enough for her mind to be read. The scene hit fans hard. "OH MY GOD??? THEY USED RAELLE TO GET INTO SCYLLA'S PAST???? I HATE THEM SO MUCH" wrote a fan on Twitter. "You have officially BROKEN MY HEART...💔💔 T.V. shows are NOT supposed to do this to me... why are you so damn GOOD!!" writes another.
"I’m sorry that whole thing was too much to process and I’ll have something witty to say about it tomorrow but for now I’m just gonna sit here and cry," says a third. "They are really breaking Scylla down. Incredible acting by @Amaliajaja & @taylorhickson in that scene," writes this fan, tweeting at Amalia Horn and Taylor Hickson for essaying their roles to their perfection.
Some fans are just upset that the show is keeping Scylla and Raelle apart. "I'm starting to understand why people complain about queer couples on shows like this not getting to be happy... this is so frustrating," writes this viewer. "Raelle and Scylla kissed. ❤️❤️ I just want Raelle and Scylla to be happy together," wrote a fan. "I need a happy ending to my #raylla couple or I swear I'm gonna riot," vows this viewer.
The fans had some harsh judgment for the Fort Salem witches responsible for this enhanced interrogation technique. "That's a good way to mess a person up even more after they're still grieving and suffering from thinking someone is dead," writes a viewer. "There seems to be a lot of mental manipulation in the army. Alway's making cadets to question the "status quo" feel crazy and isolated," points out this tweet.
The cast themselves tweeted out their reactions to this scene, writing, "I believe I have a hole now where a crucial organ should be...it's called a heart, anyone seen mine? what your performances do to me," wrote Jessica Sutton. "After they pulled me out of this room, i could hear amalia’s racking sobs and wept uncontrollably in the hall- if that scene didn’t wreck you - you must be heartless. @Amaliajaja is baby," says Taylor Hickson, to which Amalia replied, "An experience intimately shared with @taylorhickson I would never want to be without."
'Motherland: Fort Salem' airs Wednesdays 9 pm ET on Freeform.
