‘Monster Hunter’: Plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Milla Jovovich-starrer fantasy-thriller

Fans have been longing to watch the ‘Monster Hunter’ movie for some time now. The ongoing global pandemic forced the creators to delay its release. The video game movie was first supposed to hit the theatres in September 2020, but the makers then scheduled it for April 2021. However, a new release date has now been announced.

Release date

In a fresh piece of news, it is being reported that the much-awaited film, which is based on the hit game from Capcom, will finally hit the screens in December 2020. The official Twitter handle of IGN, which keeps a sharp eye on video games, made an official announcement and posted, “The Monster Hunter movie, which had previously been delayed into 2021, will now release in December 2020. https://bit.ly/36qCKVP.”



 

According to screerant.com, the film was officially announced in October 2018, when Capcom revealed that production had begun on ‘Monster Hunter’ in Cape Town.

Plot

‘Monster Hunter’ follows a special military unit, led by Milla Jovovich who plays the role of Captain Natalie Artemis, as it fights monsters in a mysterious world after falling through a portal. The team then bumps into a mysterious hunter who may be their only hope to find a way home.

Cast

The makers of the upcoming fantasy-thriller have roped in Milla Jovovich, Ron Perlman, Tony Jaa, Meagan Good and rapper TI in prominent roles.

Milla Jovovich

The American actress and the former highest-paid model is known for her roles in the action-horror film ‘Resident Evil’ franchise. She first tasted success with her role in the 1991 romance film ‘Return to the Blue Lagoon’.

Ron Perlman

The American television, film and stage actor is known for his roles in the television series ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (1987–1990), ‘Hellboy’ (2004) and its sequel ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’ (2008).

Tony Jaa

Tony Jaa is a Thai martial artist, actor, action choreographer, stuntman and a director. He is known for his roles in hit movies like ‘Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior’ (2003) and ‘Ong Bak 2: The Beginning’ (2008).

Meagan Good

The 39-year-old actress shot to fame with the film version of ‘Think Like a Man’ and then went on to act in popular movies like 2013 comedy ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’ and 2019 DC Comics' ‘Shazam!’

TI

Apart from being a popular rapper, TI is also an actor, record producer, record executive and an entrepreneur. The American rapper began his acting career in 2006 with his first film ‘ATL’ and then got his recognition in movies like in Marvel's film ‘Ant-Man’, starring Paul Rudd, and its sequel, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’.

Creators

Paul WS Anderson has taken over the director’s seat for ‘Monster Hunter’. He is also one of the producers of the fantasy flick along with Jeremy Bolt, Dennis Berardi and Ken Kamins. ‘Monster Hunter’ is made under the banner of Sony Pictures. Anderson has also written the film along with Kaname Fujioka.
