'Money Heist' aka 'La Casa de Papel' Season 2 Part 4: Why the popular Spanish show on Netflix deserves to end?

Netflix hasn't officially announced the renewal of 'Money Heist' aka 'La Casa de Papel', but here's why part four should be the last one in the series.
UPDATED APR 2, 2020

With a riveting plot and solid acting, 'Money Heist' aka 'La Casa de Papel' has managed to draw viewers from across the globe. The Spanish series revolves around a massive robbery undertaken by a gang of thieves code-named after cities — Tokyo, Nairobi, Moscow, Berlin, Rio, Denver, Oslo and the mastermind El Professor.

In season three, the troop reunited in Madrid to steal 90 tonnes of solid gold bars from the Bank of Spain after over two years of hiding. Season one and two centered around a multi-day assault on the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid, in which the group took hostages as part of their plan to print and escape with €2.4 billion.

While Netflix hasn't officially announced a release date for Season 4, there are talks that it may roll out soon considering it is already in production. Confirming that 'La Casa de Papel' will be back for part four, show creator Alex Pina said at a press conference: "They're [the characters are] a group of people who still have a lot to say. It took us quite a long time to decide, we wanted to respect our work."

Actor Esther Acebo — who is known as Mónica Gaztambide (Stockholm) — posted that filming had finished. "And after chaos, there is silence. It's official... I finished filming 'La Casa de Papel'," she captioned a post on Instagram and thanked her family for accompanying her on the trip.

As season four rolls out there is a strong possibility that it might be the last one in the series. Considering that the original Spanish series was created as a limited series first broadcast on Spanish network Antena 3, it did not gain popularity until Netflix picked it up and slightly revamped the format. Apparently, they created two seasons instead of one and the episodes were re-edited to make them 45-50 minutes long. However, the story has been stretched far too long and if there is not much meat left in the characters' lives, viewers will soon start to lose interest.

Since the show has already gained much popularity with its fast-paced plot, the makers should not let viewership numbers tumble and instead keep it as a limited series with a kickass ending.

Known for its dramatic cliffhangers, the final episode of the third season hinted at the death of Nairobi (Alba Flores) and how Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituño) could turn out to be a traitor as she is alive but didn't share her location with the Professor. Fans are also speculating whether Berlin's girlfriend Tatiana could have a hand in helping the gang escape as they seem to be trapped in the Bank of Spain at the end of last season.

Part four is all set to premiere on April 3, 2020, on Netflix and the eighth episode will be the decider whether there's more to the heist or this is the final chapter.
