'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist': Is Zoey's power gift or curse? Here's why her relationship with Max is at stake
In the upcoming episode of 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist', we will see Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy) consider moving back to her own apartment after seeing her mother doing better than before. First, it would be easier for Max (Skylar Astin) to hang out and spend the night without the early morning walk of shame awkwardness, and secondly, Zoey’s home still reminds her of her dad making it difficult for her to move on.
Lately, she has been having bad dreams where she feels trapped inside the house. Maggie, on the other hand, is trying to move on from the tragedy by throwing herself into work. We see her excited and nervous about a very important presentation that she had been working on. Having said that, she hasn’t relaxed at all and stayed away from anything emotional, including watching the tapes her late husband left for her or holding her new-born grandchild, Milo. At this point we, the viewers, are waiting for her to come crashing down at any point and cry her heart out.
David Clarke (Andrew Leeds) and Emily Kang (Alice Lee) were still having a hard time with baby Milo as he kept them awake night after night. Emily’s sister, who had come over to help them out with the baby, was really of no use and as Emily remarker “might be more exhausting than the baby.” She has a larger-than-life vision and ideas that the exhausted parents didn’t have the energy to listen to and didn’t help their present situation in any way.
Meanwhile, Max and Mo go ahead with their business plan and look for space where they can open their restaurant. When they found a huge place with a liquor license that the previous owner left in a hurry, it was a win-win situation for them. However, Mo has a tough time keeping up with his boyfriend who is out on a cruise and have barely spoken due to signal issues. Zoey also made some changes in the scenario as she shifted some menfolk to the fifth floor and brought some female coders to her floor for more diversity and maintain peace after Leif made a big error in the last episode, giving in to his colleagues' childish behavior. It is fun to watch how the women are now breaking down gender norms and stereotypes in the workroom.
In the last episode, we have seen Zoey and Max were finally able to have sex. However, just before that, they revealed their insecurities to each other, and Zoey's power to read people's minds through music brought them closer.
While everything else seemed moderately fine, Zoey and Max’s relationship might be under some strain. Zoey’s secret window to everyone’s mind soon frustrates Max. He knew Zoey would always know what was going on inside his mind and anyone else’s but he would never be able to find out what Zoey felt. Being the recluse and being the introvert Zoey is, she doesn’t like talking about her feelings much, furthering the distance between them. Moreover, Zoey started feeling strange when Simon smilingly accepted her relationship with Max but was really sad about losing Zoey to Max.
