Marvel held its world premiere for 'Eternals' on October 17 in Los Angeles, and there certainly was plenty to talk about. From star Kumail Nanjiani's Indian attire to Angelina Jolie's kids' sharp look, fans had a lot to keep them hooked. Another rather intriguing bit of news has also made its way from inside the theater - the film's post-credit scenes were not shown. Multiple sources at the press screening confirmed that Marvel had indeed chosen to skip the highly anticipated scenes.

'Eternals' marks Marvel's third pandemic release, after the outstanding success of 'Shang-Chi' and controversial 'Black Widow'. The film will feature BTS' 'Friends', the news of which sent K-pop fans into a near-meltdown. Beyond that, there's not much we know about the 'Eternals', with Marvel's marketing revealing little about the plot. What we do know though, is that the film will feature two post-credits scenes, as confirmed by none other than director Chloe Zhao

But what those scenes are is likely to remain a surprise for a little while longer. Since Marvel skipped showing the scenes at the screening, the first time journalists will get a peek will be along with fans when the movie hits theatres on November 5. In the meantime, here's what we do know about the two scenes, and why Marvel chose to skip them.

Rumors about the post-credit scenes

We do know there will be two scenes, but what they are is a huge mystery. On October 11, Zhao told Fandango, "Don’t just stay for the first one — also stay for the second one, too. They are equally as important in weight, and both have big surprises for you," she said. One rumor doing the rounds is that Harry Styles will make his MCU debut as Starfox in one scene. That rumor has been around since September 2020.

What the other scene will feature is certainly a huge mystery, but there is no lack of rumors. From mutants to a direct link to 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', fans have speculated a lot. Unfortunately, we won't be getting any leaks just yet. Sadly, it seems like Marvel decided to avoid any spoilers at all, hinting that whatever the scenes show are pretty big. We do know the next Spider-Man film is set for a major cross-over, as confirmed by the post-credits scene of 'Venom: Let There be Carnage'. So it does seem likely the 'Eternals' scene has something to do with the upcoming film.

'It abruptly cut to an Imax logo'

Numerous reporters at the screening confirmed that the post-credits scene was indeed missing. The Verse Cast tweeted, "No post credit scenes were shown during the press screening of #Eternals .  It abruptly cut to an Imax logo and the lights went up. So we're guessing something pretty big is revealed. But what? We'll have to wait to find out." The big question is why? Right now, there are two theories out there.

The more dominant theory is that the scenes are just too big for Marvel to drop without spoiling. If that is the case, then it's a safe bet to assume they have something to do with 'No Way Home', which has already seen numerous set photos and plot leaks. However, before you get your hopes up, you should know there could be a less exciting explanation as well. Journalist Herb Scribner, who writes for the Deseret News had a more mundane explanation for why Marvel chose to cut the post-credit scenes.

"Source just told me: "The final credits aren’t ready yet"," he tweeted shortly after the news broke. For a film that's been ready for over a year, that does seem like a surprise at first. But remember, this is Marvel. It could be very likely that the scenes were recently shot and added, especially if they are from an upcoming film like 'No Way Home', and not a year ago when 'No Way Home' was still in early production.

It's very much possible that the scene could be one from the next Spider-Man film, just as Marvel did with 'Ant-Man'. Die-hard fans will remember one of the post-credit scenes in the film was a scene from 'Captain America: Civil War'. If that is the case, then it's likely it was just recently shot and is still being edited or VFX is being added. We can only speculate at this point, but given that Kevin Feige and his team love to surprise and delight fans, don't be surprised if that is indeed the case. We will know for sure when 'Eternals' hits screens on November 5.
