Netflix is famous for churning out many brilliant shows and it looks like it is about to release yet another masterpiece. ' Maid' is the new drama coming out on Netflix and we absolutely can't wait! The show has already garnered plenty of attention and has a lot of eyes on it.

'Maid' follows the story of a single mother who turns to housekeeping to barely make ends meet as she battles against poverty, homelessness, and bureaucracy. The story is set to be emotional, inspiring, raw, and have a dash of humor sprinkled in. The Netflix comedy-drama promises audiences a treat, that's for sure. Plot

Inspired by the New York Times best-selling memoir, 'Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive' by Stephanie Land,  the drama follows the story of Alex, a single mother who turns to housecleaning to barely make ends meet as she escapes an abusive relationship and overcomes homelessness to create a better life for her daughter, Maddy. Seen through the emotional yet humorous lens of a desperate but determined woman, this series is a raw and inspiring exploration of a mother’s resilience.

Cast

Margaret Qualley 

Sarah Margaret Qualley is an American actress. The daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, she trained as a ballerina in her youth and briefly pursued a career in modeling. She made her acting debut with a minor role in the 2013 drama film 'Palo Alto' and gained recognition for playing a troubled teenager in the HBO drama series 'The Leftovers' . Qualley then appeared in the dark comedy 'The Nice Guys' and in Netflix's supernatural thriller 'Death Note'. Her biggest commercial success came in 2019 with Quentin Tarantino's comedy-drama 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'.

Nick Robinson 

Nicholas John Robinson is an American actor. As a child, he appeared in a 2008 stage production of 'A Christmas Carol and Mame' after which he starred in the television sitcom 'Melissa & Joey'. He went on to play a supporting role in the science fiction adventure film 'Jurassic World' and took on lead roles in several teen dramas, including 'The Kings of Summer', 'The 5th Wave', 'Everything, Everything', 'Love, Simon', and 'Native Son'  In 2020, Robinson co-starred in the FX miniseries 'A Teacher.'

Anika Noni Rose 

Anika Noni Rose is an American actress and singer. She is best known for voicing Tiana, Disney's first African-American movie protagonist, as seen in 'The Princess and the Frog'. She was named a Disney Legend in 2011. She is also known for her starring role as Lorrell Robinson in the Academy Award-winning film 'Dreamgirls' and for playing LaVerne "Jukebox" Ganner in the Starz hit series 'Power'. She is also known for her performances in theatre, particularly for her starring roles as Emmie Thibodeaux in the Broadway production of 'Caroline', or 'Change', for which she won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Andie MacDowell

Rosalie Anderson MacDowell is an American actress and fashion model. She made her film debut in 1984's 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes', before receiving critical acclaim for her role in 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape', for which she won Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama. She also received Golden Globe Award nominations for her performances in 'Green Card'  and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'.

Tracy Vilar 

Tracy Vilar born Tracy Leigh Vilar on April 12, 1968; and sometimes credited Tracy Villars is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Ro-Ro on the CBS sitcom 'Partners', Sophia Ortiz on The WB sitcom 'The Steve Harvey Show', and Angela de la Cruz on the TNT television show, 'Saved'.

Billy Burke 

William Albert Burke is an American actor. He is most widely known for his role as Charlie Swan in 'Twilight' and its sequels. In 2011, he played Cesaire in 'Red Riding Hood'. In 2012, he was cast as one of the lead characters, Miles Matheson, in the NBC science-fiction series 'Revolution'. From 2015 to 2017, he starred in the CBS series 'Zoo'. He has also appeared in the supernatural horror film 'Lights Out' and the thriller 'Breaking In'.

Creators

The series is created by Molly Smith Metzler who is also expected to executive produce alongside John Wells, Erin Jontow, Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Brett Hedblom, and Land.

Trailer

In the trailer one can see Alex’s reality consists of days cleaning mansions from top-to-bottom, struggling and relying on assistance programs like SNAP to provide for her family.
