Fighting evil with your best friend definitely seems to be the right way to go about it. on SYFY's upcoming adult animated series titled 'Magical Girl Friendship Squad' that is exactly what two girlfriends are up to after a mysterious talking red panda visits them granting enviable powers. Starring Ana Gasteyer, Anna Akana and Quinta Brunson, the series is described by SYFY as an "animated comedy with a genre twist". The 15-minute long six episodes will be coming to TZGZ, SYFY's growing late-night adult animation block. Plot
According to the official synopsis by SYFY, 'Magical Girl Friendship Squad': "When a little red panda named Nut arrives in the apartment of two directionless twenty-somethings and gives them the ability to transform into badass magical girls, Alex and Daisy are forced to get their shit together in order to save the Universe from otherworldly threats. Through a journey of love and friendship and with the help of their magical objects (birth control and a bong), Alex and Daisy learn to wield their new powers and protect their mysterious panda friend who claims to be the creator of the Universe."
Cast
Ana Gasteyer as Nut
Gasteyer plays the role of a little red panda who holds the powers of the universe, but these powers are close to useless on Earth. The actress is known for being a cast member on 'Saturday Night Live' and for her performances in 'Suburgatory', 'Lady Dynamite' and 'People of Earth'.
Anna Akana as Daisy

Akana became popular because of the videos she posted on YouTube under the channel of her own name. She posts about comedy, mental health and music. She has also made appearances in television and movies, including 'Adam Ruins Everything', 'The Fosters', 'Into the Dark', 'A Million Little Things', 'NCIS: Los Angeles' and 'Jupiter's Legacy'.
Quinta Brunson as Alex
Brunson rose to prominence with the videos she produced and acted in for BuzzFeed Video and for 'Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date', which she produced herself. Since 2019, the write-actress has also starred HBO's popular 'A Black Lady Sketch Show' alongside Robin Thede, Gabrielle Dennis and Ashley Nicole Black.
Creators
'Magical Girl Friendship Squad' is created by Kelsey Stephanides, who also serves as showrunner. According to reports, James Belfer, Adam Belfer and Max Benator executive produce, along with Hallie Cantor who is also the lead writer.
