'MacGyver' Season 5 Episode 4 Spoilers: Who foils Mac and Desi's parents' meet-up? Here's how duo move forward

We also learn that Desi herself is worried about fitting in with her family because she does not have much in common with them. Not to mention, she can't tell them what her job is

Spoilers for 'MacGyver' Season 5

'MacGyver' Season 5 is returning with its first episode of 2021 with Season 5 Episode 4 'Banh Bao + Sterno + Drill + Burner + Mason' with Desi (Levy Tran) and Angus 'Mac' MacGyver (Lucas Till) at the center of attention. The last time we saw the couple was when Season 5 Episode 3 'Eclipse + USMC-1856707 + Step Potential + Chain Lock + Ma' aired on December 18, 2020.

While making sure Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick) was rescued after being kidnapped, the couple also patched things up in their relationship. So it would only make sense that the new episode would elaborate on their relationship more. But, things won't go as planned at all. Of course, we're still waiting on Codex's revenge and Riley's (Tristin Mays) reaction to the Mac-Desi patch up, but we might have to wait on that.

The official synopsis of 'MacGyver' Season 5 Episode 4 reads, "Mac's meeting with Desi's parents goes sideways when her brother finds himself in trouble and desperately needs their help. Also, Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick) and Matty Webber (Meredith Eaton) must ask an old nemesis for assistance when their new recruitment candidate is kidnapped."

The episode is set up to feature Mac spending his time with Desi's parents, a plot many are looking forward to along with the return of the villain Mason, according to reports. Apparently, Team Phoenix is in desperate need of Mason's help, something they would otherwise not ask for but with Mason back, the team could be in danger.

But of course, like most show plots, we're a little bit hell-bent on finding out what future does the Mac-Desi relationship hold. We already know the #MacRiley shippers are in dismay since Desi and Mac made up, but with Mac meeting Desi's parents, does it mean their relationship is set to take the next step? Most importantly, Desi's brother seems to be the one in trouble in the upcoming episode, apparently spoiling the Mac and Desi's parents' meet-up.

However, It seems that Mac is determined to meet and learn about Desi's family. According to reports, he will be "memorizing key details" about them in order to fit in. We also learn that Desi herself is worried about fitting in with her family because she does not have much in common with them. Not to mention, she can't tell them what her job is so they think her brother is the better and settled kid, while their daughter "works in security".

Seemingly, it seems family and business will start to factor in considering there will be a major issue with Desi's brother. It's not a typical boyfriend-meets-the-family scenario, but it's 'MacGyver' so we'll take it! Watch the sneak peek of the episode below.
