Monday's (August 24) episode of 'Love It or List It' made it seem like finally, a couple would choose to look beyond Hilary Farr's astounding renovations and choose to list their house on the market to move into a new house that David Visentin scouted for them. The featured couple on this week's episode was Tyler and Katherine. The two married a year ago after which the latter and her son moved into Tyler's home that sat on two acres.

While Tyler loved everything about it, Katherine felt like the house was secluded and she wanted a community setting nearby the house for her son, Liam. Also, every room in the house needed to be retouched, both Tyler and Katherine agreed on that, however, the latter was adamant to list the house while Tyler was of the opinion that everything could be fixed. The budget they gave Hilary to work with was quite a challenge to work with and none of her plans seemed to excite Katherine who was of the opinion that they were getting stackables in return of the money they were spending for renovations. However, the end result completely blew her and Tyler off equally and they decided to 'love' their existing house, instead of moving out.

Some of the problems with their existing house included wrongly placed laundry room, messy and small master bathroom, lack of a powder room, a poorly designed basement, lack of closet spaces, and a very dated kitchen. Basically, the house felt more like a man-cave, and Katherine wanted nothing to do with the house, in her head she was all set to move to a new place. The current value of their home was $320,000 and they had set a budget of $400,000 for a home and given Hilary a total of $110,000 to renovate their existing space. David showed them three houses out and the last one they saw had them at first sight and Katherine declared that she wouldn't look at any other house, not even their existing one, after seeing this one. However, when they arrived at their freshly renovated home, it turned out to be everything that she and Tyler had ever dreamt of. Hilary had pulled off something that had the house looking "dramatically different" in the words of David. She didn't manage to upgrade the closet space and fix the drainage issues that might lead to a sinking hazard later, however, that was because the budget was very tight and there was no way she could possibly fix it.

The new value of the home was $450,000 now and if the couple chose to buy the new house that David found, it would still mean that they'd save a lot of money even after making that purchase. However, in the end, even though it did feel like there was no way they were not going to keep their existing house, they did.

'Love It or List It' airs Mondays at 9 pm on HGTV.
