'Love Is Blind': Fans think Jessica has a 'drinking issue' but cheer for her because Mark is too desperate
Netflix's 'Love Is Blind' gave the viewers a bunch of people they can hate and crush on. Jessica Batten, who was engaged with Mark Anthony Cuevas, was one of them. There's a section of people who cannot stand her guts, but there's also a group who feel for her and how her storyline panned out.
Jessica's relationship with Mark was an on-off one. Right from the word go, she has been emotionally connected to Matt Barnett (who chose Amber Pike over her), and those feelings have come in the way of her and Mark giving their engagement a fair shot.
This one time, at Matt's birthday celebrations, she got a little tipsy and began a conversation with him. Their chat had a lot to do with how she felt for him and how Mark wasn't the guy for her.
"I was coming down off of us. There were 48 hours in a day. I thought about you for, like, 46 of those hours. Like, it was insane," she told Matt and asked questions about Amber, possibly in the hope to figure out if the two were getting along or not. But Matt told her Amber was more than he had expected and that was "good" for him.
Mark had a hint that Jessica wasn't into him, but he wasn't the one to budge. However, Jessica always thought they wouldn't make a good team because of their 10-year age gap. She even tried to convince Mark's mother once that if they got married he'd have to give up on the fun years of his life, which is not something she would want for him.
Finally, on the wedding day, Jessica made it to the altar in her beautiful gown but Mark found himself lonely and dejected as she turned down the chance to marry him. Ever since there's been a lot of hate coming Jessica's way especially from the trolls online. However, for the first time in a long time, viewers have come together to show their support for the reality TV star.
In a Reddit discussion, a handful of fans have pointed out that Jessica had a drinking problem and usually, people do and say a lot of things they don't mean when high. Therefore, every time she was out of line, it was probably the alcohol talking.
"I honestly felt for Jessica as someone who has struggled with overdrinking. ESPECIALLY after feeling heartbroken and having to see the guy you like get paraded around right in front of you," a fan wrote, while another shared: "While she didn't do herself any favors with the drinking, I think she got "a bad edit", when all she was doing was trying to figure it out. I personally can't imagine being in this situation with no outside contact and no one to talk to about it."
"I thought she might have a drinking issue. All of her moments where I disliked her she was drunk," a viewer pointed out and added: "I felt bad for her because she genuinely seemed to regret what she said the next day when she sobered up."

Despite her flaws, fans have accepted her and the approach she took to deal with her relationship with Mark. Some thought he was too "pushy" and "needy," and it was okay for Jessica to decide not to start a life with someone who has just started as a personal trainer. "I agree, Marc was so pushy and over the top needy. Seriously, I was very put off by his desperation," a fan expressed.
