'Love Is Blind': Damian turns down Giannina on the altar, Jessica says she isn't sorry for not marrying Mark
Happy endings are a myth and three of the five couples on 'Love Is Blind' would agree.
Jessica Batten and Mark Anthony Cuevas's relationship wasn't exactly tight. Right from the word go, they were on different planes from each other. The age gap was one of the major factors haunting Jessica. She thought it would stand in the way of them leading a happy tomorrow. But Mark was sure of his love for Jessica. He was open to change, ready to communicate and be patient with Jessica.
Even on their vacation to Cancun, Mexico, the couple struggled to get intimate. However, upon returning, they moved in together and made efforts to know more about each other and in the process connected emotionally at a deeper level. Unfortunately, that didn't convert into feelings of love and that left Mark dejected and alone at the altar. Jessica refused to get hitched to Mark because she takes vows seriously and didn't think they could become more than what they already were and marriage definitely demands a greater, deeper equation than what they share.
In her green-room interview, she even said that she would apologize to people who were hurt but she wasn't sorry for the decision she had made.
Kelly Chase and Kenny Barnes appeared perfect on paper, except they too were taking it slow especially when it came to their physical relationship. At one point, Kenny even sat down for a chat with Kelly sharing his worries about them not being close enough. However, he never pushed her to do anything she didn't want to and respected her thoughts and feelings about them getting intimate.
On the day of the wedding, Kelly was not nervous but knew the importance of that ring and that it was for a lifetime. She valued the friendship she and Kenny shared but it would be unfair to take it into a different zone. Kenny was amazingly gracious in addressing the friends and families of both the bride and groom, stating that it was an experiment that they were a part of and it's unfortunate what had happened.
The most shocking of all was Damian Powers and Giannina Milady Gibelli's split. They've had the nastiest fights but were always able to overcome it with love. Even when Damian's mother asked him not to marry a "wh***" of a reality TV and canceled their meeting with her, he was with her, comforting her and assuring her that everything would be okay.
But, their wedding day painted a completely different picture that was stained with hatred and feelings of betrayal. Giannina said to him "I do" but Damian turned her down. He appreciated the moment of greatness and how Giannina seemed all sorted in her head and confident about her decision to get married to him but he didn't want a life where she turns back on her own words and falls into this trap of self-sabotaging.
An upset and distraught Giannina ran from the altar, into the streets, falling, tripping and crying along the way and probably thinking it was all a bad dream that would go away soon. But, it was real. Her emotions and feelings were all on the table but were crushed without a thought by Damian. While Giannina's mother consoled her, Damian couldn't control his tears as he shared with his friends and family that his decision may have broken two hearts but it's only for the best.
