The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ reached an interesting juncture with Episode 5 and it seemed that the battle between the good and the evil is about to begin. At the end of ‘Partings’, we saw Adar, along with his army of Orcs, heading towards the High Tower. Meanwhile, Bronwyn, Galadriel, Elendil, and a small army of Elves leave for The Southlands to defeat the darkness. Since the beginning of the Amazon series, we have been waiting to see the epic action sequences and Episode 6 has finally given us what we wanted and that too in the most riveting fashion.

The sixth episode starts with Adar (Joseph Mawle) and his army reaching the gates of Hightower and getting to know that no one is present there. Soon, we find out that Arondir is hiding in one of the towers and is waiting to take them down. He kills a few Orcs before destroying the tower completely, which gives Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova) and the other people some time to get ready for another attack. Meanwhile, Queen Regent of Numenor, Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), asks the commander of the kingdom’s army to increase the pace so that they can reach there as soon as possible. A few hours pass away and the army of Orcs returns to the small village where everyone, including Bronwyn and Arondir, has taken refuge. They are ready for the fight and the action begins once they try to enter the tavern.

The entire action sequence between the people of Tirharad and the Orcs is undoubtedly one of the most well-shot fight sequences that we have seen in recent years. It’s fierce, brutal, and brilliantly choreographed. The clash between Arondir and a gigantic Orc is an intense and powerful clash between two opposing sides that are highlighted by a good background score and a dynamically moving camera that highlights spectacle and violence. This scene will undoubtedly keep viewers at the edge of their seats and their hearts pumping.

If you have been a fan of ‘Lord of the Rings’, then you know that a lot of it primarily focuses on the courage of common people trying to take on the darkness. The clash between Orcs and the people of Tihadad highlights some of the best parts of that aspect, making it a powerful story about the triumph of good over evil. It’s touching and most importantly, heroic.

But if you feel that this is the only action scene viewers are going to see in this week’s episode, then you are wrong. 70% of tonight’s episode was filled with sequences featuring fist fighting, sword fighting, and brutal killings of Orcs. However, when they feel that they are winning the fight, Adar plays a wonderful trick on his enemies and takes them by storm. That’s when the army of Numenor arrives on the scene. The introduction of Numenor’s armies will take you back to Peter Jackson’s ‘LOTR’ trilogy. The cinematography, the background score, the fast-moving camera, and the thumping noise of horses running over the vast lands will mesmerize everyone.

Despite being filled with action sequences, the storytelling turns out to be the real MVP once again. All the conversations that take place during the episode play an important role in taking the story forward and we get to know how certain things came into existence.

All in all, ‘The Rings of Power’ have significantly ramped up the action quotient and made things even more interesting with a humongous twist at the end. It’s the finest episode of the Amazon series so far and things are only going to get better from here on.
