'Light as a Feather' season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer, and everything you need to know about Hulu's teenage horror

The story kicks off with the five leads deciding to experiment with the supernatural world by playing the titular game 'Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board' at a sleepover
UPDATED JUL 10, 2019

Teen horror series 'Light as a Feather', based on Zoe Arsen's 3.9 million-read Wattpad self-published story, was renewed for a second season in April this year. But while the original story had made records for being the first of a series that's quoted to have banked 5.7 million reads, the second season of the Hulu show is also reaching newer heights and packing a whopping 16-episode run this time, which comes as a significant rise from its debut season's 10 episodes.

Following five teenage girls who have a keenness for experimenting with supernatural mediums, the first season arrived on Hulu on October 12, 2018, right in time for Halloween. This time, however, it arrives midsummer to give us all the eerie creepiness of good horror in July 2019.

Release date

After Hulu announced via Deadline that the show had been greenlit for a second season, the release date followed soon. 'Light as a Feather' is now going to release on Friday, July 26, only on Hulu.

Plot

The story kicks off with the five leads deciding to experiment with the supernatural world by playing the titular game 'Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board' at a sleepover. This raises hell in their lives as they start experiencing the extremely real and very deadly consequences for what they have done, and yes, it includes certain deaths too as the game predicts. The second season will focus on McKenna (the lead) continuing to deal with the aftermath of the game, while she has to keep "fighting against a ticking clock compelling her to play along."

Creator

The original story was written by Arsen for her Wattpad fic, but the TV adaptation has been helmed by series creator R. Lee Fleming Jr., who is reprising his role as showrunner, writer and executive producer for the second season too. Lee Fleming Jr. is also known for his screenwriting in some of the hit romcoms like 'She's All That', and 'Get Over It'.

Cast

Liana Liberato

The American actress plays the lead role of McKenna Brady on the Hulu show. The character is a shy and popular high school senior and child of divorce, who must now deal with the aftermath of them dabbling with supernatural elements in the second season. She is also known for playing the younger version of the female lead in the 2014 film 'The Best of Me'.

Haley Ramm

She plays the role of Violet Simmons, who happens to be a new student at school who recently moved to town. Violet is among the five teenagers who had participated in the titular supernatural game and much now deal with the consequences alongside her friends. Ramm is also known for playing young Jean Grey in 'X-Men: The Last Stand'.

Brianne Tju

The actress reprises her role of Alex Portnoy, a popular tomboy, and dancer at school in the second season. She is also known for her works in 'Grey's Anatomy' (2005), 'R.L. Stine's The Haunting Hour' (2010) and 'Scream: The TV Series' (2015).

Teaser/ Trailer

The extremely unsettling teaser released by Hulu for the second season of its original horror sees McKenna getting back in action, practicing the levitation game, chanting the magical titular lines as she tries to make a young boy's body levitate off the ground. Fun, right? But her voice quivers as the boy's body floats a little higher than the ground, and she announces, "He's dying; he's dead."

And now, the trailer for season 2 of 'Light As a Feather' shows that things have gotten a lot more intense and that there is a lot more to fear this time around.
